If is such ... may your words spread like wildfire.
If they were taking a stand for the Robertsons and against A&E, then the press release should have said so instead of the weasel words they used. Plus their subsequent press release should have also referenced what their true intent was in removing the merchandise.
If that were the case, they could have avoided an apology with an explanation. Therefore, I don't believe that was their intent.
You are misinformed. CB caved to the homo Nazis and removed only the Phil Robertson related items. They were not taking a stand forRobertson, they caved to the homo lobby. Then when the SHTF, they did a 180.
Don’t pretend this whole thing was an attempt to stand up for Phil Robertson. If it was, then they would have issued a clarifying press release rather than an apology.
re: “While it appeared Cracker Barrel caved with the first email, they were actually making a stand for the Robertsons and against A&E. . .”
I disagree. While you may be correct about the Duck Commander revenue going to the Roberstsons, Cracker Barrel did not give any impression that they were removing the Duck Dynasty items as a “stand against A&E” - just the opposite:
” We removed selected products which we were concerned might offend some of our guests while we evaluate the situation. We continually evaluate the products we offer and will continue to do so.”
Their stated purpose in removing the Duck Dynasty items was to “not offend” - not offend who, yorkiemom? Their conservative clientele?
You say, “they PROUDLY” stated those items were still available. I think they left them on the shelves because most people of the liberal mindset would NOT know that Duck Commander is identified with the Robertsons. I just do not see the brave “stand” on their part.
No, they just pulled the ‘Phil’ stuff
(not certain about his wife’s products, didn’t look at that at the time)
See this post from one of the Saturday threads:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3103997/posts?page=86#86
I went onto the CB website and looked at their products for sale. Anything ‘Phil’ was not there, the other stuff was.
If you click onto that CB link on the post right now- you’ll see their book section - Phil’s book is now there - it wasn’t on Saturday. They yanked it.
His book is published through his company - not A&E, they pulled off Duck Commander products. You’ll see Si’s book there too, that was still there on Saturday.
That was my reading too, but people get confused, and they don’t understand the whole ownership chain thing in our modern corporate world. They know he’s the guy from Duck Dynasty so they think buying Duck Dynasty stuff supports him and studiously ignore that little A&E logo in the corner of the tag.
Doubt it.
The items they removed had nothing to do with Duck Dynasty vs Duck Commander. They removed any showing Phil Robertson’s image.
Not exactly. From what I have been able to understand, they removed all DD and DC merchandise with Phil’s picture/name.
