"President Barack Obama has nominated CNNs Anderson Cooper to be the next U.S. ambassador to the Philippines. The White House announcement on the nomination came on the heels of Coopers live reporting on the aftermath of super typhoon Haiyan which has devastated many cities and towns in Central Philippines. He is the host of the popular CNN news program, AC 360. His reports from Tacloban, the worst-hit among the cities in the province of Leyte, gained both praise and criticism."

We live in interesting times.
“That remind me, doesnt Art Bell live there?”
____________________________________________
Art is married to a Filipina, and has an apartment in Manila, but I do not know where he is now hanging out.
I know he had a big problem with the heat, but I have no idea why he would pick Manila, when there are so many much better locations here.
I live in the Philippines now. I am a Protestant Christian.
I went to a beauty pageant for "Miss Gay Ormoc City" where a nicely dressed elderly Roman Catholic lady gave the opening PRAYER asking for God's blessings on the event. I almost puked! The below photo is from the Miss Gay Philippines 2012. THEY ARE ALL MEN!
#41 has wrong photo. Those are real women in the Miss World contest.
Please tell me this is a joke.
Don’t let Laz see that.
“Miss Gay Philippines 2012. THEY ARE ALL MEN!”

Yes, homo/trans-sexuality is quite common and accepted here.
I do not know why it is so common.
My condolences Alex.
Is there a City named Benghazi in the Philippines?
“#41 has wrong photo.”
In Malate, I can understand the confusion. ;)
you’re right
as of this morning I have so far found no independent confirmation of this report
mea culpa
I meant the idea that he could be welcomed as an Ambassador based on one TV report
I believed the report was reporting something the administration was doing, and not just something the report/reporter were suggesting.
I was notified by friends in the Philippines today of the lack of ANY reports anywhere that independently confirmed the Anderson Cooper “ambassador” report.
They admired the report that Cooper gave from the Philippines about the disaster, but no independent Philippine news sources ever confirmed the “ambassafor” story.
