"President Barack Obama has nominated CNNs Anderson Cooper to be the next U.S. ambassador to the Philippines. The White House announcement on the nomination came on the heels of Coopers live reporting on the aftermath of super typhoon Haiyan which has devastated many cities and towns in Central Philippines. He is the host of the popular CNN news program, AC 360. His reports from Tacloban, the worst-hit among the cities in the province of Leyte, gained both praise and criticism."

I hope so. Mods: please withdraw thread, pending better confirmation.
“BTW....a pole-smoker as US Ambassador will not go over well in such a heavily Catholic country.”
Well, not entirely. Sure he’s a fudgepacker but Filipino movies and culture have fags as accepted in the media. The top talent producer is a homo as an example and one of the biggest stars Vice Ganda’ is a full blown faggot, even having shows here in the US. (it pays when you have a sis in law who’s from Cebu). To add about the Christian angle, I have never seen Holy Week be held in solemn ritual than the Philippines. The govt and the country shuts down from Holy Wednesday on to the weekend with no TV whatsoever so they make sure you concentrate on Christ.
It’s not Yemen or Iran, they’ll swallow their tongues. I don’t think this is a real story, though.
Lots of “ladyboys” in the Philippines. Cooper should feel right at home.
I’m sorry.
Not to mention Abu Sayyaf. Could be another Benghazi in the making. The guy's name is even Anderson.
Hmmmmm...
One thing liberal/progressive/socialist Democrats do very well is appoint gay men to ambassadorships in Catholic countries - like George Hormel III to Luxembourg.
By the way, I also do doubt the veracity of the claim.
LOLOLOLOL.
I see now that jameslalor was onto that right away!
Better Anderson as ambassador than Kerry as SOS. ;-)

You have a point. At least he will be in Manila, far from me, and will have no influence over my life. Probably better then having him spew his garbage on CNN, which I do not get here.
Thanks to my G-Sat, I get only FOX news.
Well . . . . looking at some of the “Spoils” appointments of ambassadorships handed out by The Great ObamaNation this is dances on the thin line between satire and plausibility.
“Lots of ladyboys in the Philippines.”
That remind me, doesn’t Art Bell live there?

PN751 * DEPARTMENT OF STATE
Philip S. Goldberg, of the District of Columbia, a Career Member of the Senior
Foreign Service, Class of Career-Minister, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and
Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of the Philippines.
I am so sorry this was not true; rather a cruel hoax. I am deeply saddened by the news that Mr. Cooper will not be AmbASSadoor. LOLOLOL!
Read the web site About, it’s all fake.
In 2008 he was asked by the NYT why she wants to be a U.S. senator. The reply, one which belongs in the Political Hall of Fame:
Have you guys ever thought about writing for, like, a woman's magazine or something?"
She said "you know" 138 times in an interview, once 12 times in a minute.

Obambi’s ambassadors are rather endangered species.
I’d say he is much better qualified then that Kennedy woman.
You mean he’s the ambASSador?
