Why the Obamacare disaster won’t necessarily lead to Obama’s “Single payer” dream

Rush insists the “problems” with Obamacare are, if not exactly planned, welcomed by Barack Obama as a way to collapse our entire medical health insurance system. His reasoning holds that Obama believes the details surrounding this disaster are unimportant as long as they lead to Americans getting on their knees to beg him to “fix” his problem. The theory holds that when we crawl to our King, tears in our eyes, frightened half out of our minds, we won’t care what he does so long as it “makes the pain go away.”

In the general state of malaise we live in these days it’s easy to agree with this. After all we know Obama hates America and would do anything to...

This country will never go communist. We have too many lawyers waiting to make a big score. The Clinton’s and Obama’s MIGHT be communists, but they ARE lawyers. The communist party isn’t going to allow the lawyers to have the kind of power they have now. The lawyers know that. See any rich lawyers practicing law in Cuba?

I think it happened too early and is too tied to the government section - the Obamacare website. The idea was to make the hybrid government/insurance industry method crash in a way where the insurance companies could be blamed.

Bill too expensive?
Well the government gives you money and the insurance company takes it away.

Couldn't get treatment?
Well, the insurance company and hospital refused it... too bad the government couldn't have done it instead.

Instead it crashed on start up in a way where the insurers can't be blamed. So Obama and gang are trying to blame all of the Obamacare required policy cancellations on the insurers and retroactively remove his promises that you can keep your plan and your doctor ... period...ish.

The crash was supposed to happen in 2015 or 2016, not October 1, 2013.

Obama has already said (on tape) that it may take 20 years to get there, but single payer is the ultimate goal.

There are a lot of people that kept their insurance. Government employees and unions will revolt if their insurance is changed much. Single payer just won’t work for them. 0 could wait until after the election and go for it any way and let the next administration take the heat.

This country will never go communist.

We've been "going" socialist for decades. I'm not sure there is a single, defining moment when a nation suddenly "becomes" something. We have a current crop of voters who twice elected this asshat, and 30 million more slobbering at the gate just waiting for their turn. I'd be careful about never saying never.

Once the majority are already on gov’t healthcare they won’t be able to undo it.

I have friends and family in the legal profession and there is a good history of statesmanship and justice from within the highest in that vocation. That being said, the warning of “middle temple lawyers” controling the French Revolutionary government by Edmund Burke are there for all to read.

We can look at Asian Parliments, and Pakistan disfunction and see what happens when those that are bred on bickering have the majority of functionary slots in government.

Lawyers more easily adapt to roles of regulators than to the role of legislators.

Wanna bet? When over half of the American people wind up with health care that resembles a visit to the DMV, sitting like cattle in a welfare office, they're going to punish someone for it.

Americans do not like to be lied to by their president, especially when it affects them personally. The surprise and fear quickly turns into anger.

Perhaps we are headed for an American moment of consensus to rid ourselves of this pernicious beast?

This sounds like the Michael Medved line that “he just doesn’t have the votes”.

Mark my words, if 150 million people out there get canceled and are running around with headless chickens, looking at the choice of Single Payer or nothing, there WILL be the votes.
