SC:Armed Elderly Woman Subdues Attacker Armed with Baseball bat

Richard Keese (Source: Anderson Co. Sheriff's Office

Richard Keese is very lucky.   If that bullet had hit 1 inch lower, he would almost certainly be in the morgue, not the jail.   From the Foxcarolina:

Lt. Sheila Cole with the Anderson County Sheriff's Office said about 3 p.m. a man forced his way into a Mays Street home and attacked a woman inside the home.

The elderly homeowner then shot the man with a revolver, grazing his head, according to Cole.

A firearm makes an elderly woman more than a match for a healthy male with a baseball bat.  Richard Keese was attacking a younger woman who was in the house with the older homeowner.

I suspect that Keese has quite a headache.

From the wound, I would guess that a .38 or larger caliber was used, not a .22. Whatever was used. it stopped the attack.

Nice going lady. However, it would have been better had you done a double-tap to center of mass chest and then taken the head shot. Get training.

Good thing she shot him in the head.

Anywhere else might have hurt the guy.

“The bullet ricocheted off his skull!”

It is a fairly common phenomena, and has been observed with all calibers, including the .45. Skulls a fairly hard, and rounded. If hit at a shallow angle, bullets will ricochet off of them.

The late Jim Cirillo, who was one of the best modern gunfighters, even went so far as to design bullets that would be less likely to ricochet off of the skull. They are mentioned in his book, Guns, Bullets, And Gunfights: Lessons And Tales From A Modern-Day Gunfighter.
