Poll: Most Americans Support Federal Shutdown to Defund ObamaCare
The New American ^ | September 19, 2013 | Alex Newman

Perhaps the most significant public-opinion information on ObamaCare for policymakers in Washington, D.C., are the results of a poll published by Rasmussen on September 17. According to the survey of 1,000 likely voters, 51 percent of Americans support shutting down the U.S. government until GOP and Democrat lawmakers in Congress can figure out how to cut the massive federal budget — and how to slash funding for Obama’s deeply controversial healthcare regime. ..

Everyone remember the Republicans are shutting down Obamacare while the dimoKKKRATS want to shut down the government in retaliation. The Republicans are not shutting down the government, only Obamacare.

That’s right. When nobama issues the veto that will lead to the shutdown, he can claim that he’s just following the will of a majority of Americans.

Honestly, I don’t believe these polls. This “support” will vanish seconds after these people are personally impacted in any way, real or imaginary.

I am conservative, but I’m not naive. Lost my faith in the “wisdom” of the American people long ago.

Same here. Most Americans are naive. They live in fairy land.

This issue shows how out of touch the media is with the American people. I get so sick of watching rinos smurk and laugh anytime a true conservative starts talking. Some guy who worked for Guilliani was on CNN acting like liberals typically act. I’m at the point where I just can’t stand to watch anything pretending to be “news”. I spent years not paying attention to politics. it started when Reagan went home. It may be time to withdraw again.

I say shut ‘er down. No guts. No glory. Let the chips fall where they may. Time to play hard ball GOP. DO NOT BLINK. EVER.

Brief, and right on!

Hard to believe, but this exact scenario was foreseen, and the proper response given by one of the reviled Founding Fathers :

“It will be of little avail to the people, that the laws are made by men of their own choice, if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood; if they be repealed or revised before they are promulgated, or undergo such incessant changes that no man, who knows what the law is today, can guess what it will be to-morrow.”
― James Madison

Twelve thousand pages of law anyone? Twenty thousand of explanatory rules and policies?

I am of the opinion that if a filibuster is in our future, its absolute best use would be to inform the citizenry how Obamacare came about. Its entire sordid history; should not take more than a couple of days.

We all know that the House or Senate members never wrote it. Who they delegated job to is really irrelevant, but crucial. Its introduction full blown weeks after Hussein announced its introduction is an impossibility, unless the proposed law was previously written.

Which progressive think Tank or group of think tanks were assigned the job?
During what period of time was it written?
Who were the principal writers?
Where was it written?
Which members of the House (or the Senate) actually participated in the preparation of the phony bill?
How was the original Bill as written by the House gutted and the Senate unconstitutional version substituted into a different Bill that the House had already passed?

Who in the Senate had the authority to execute the fraud?

Seems like this filibuster could make for an epic and historical event!

I can last on minimal subsistence for several years without Social Security.

I won't have to worry about rent or mortgage because at least the 49% of working Americans who support the indolent 51% will mostly be in the same boat.

Unless, that is, the Progressive Regime has fundamentally transformed the United States of America enough to confiscate all gold, silver, bank accounts, IRAs, 401(k)s and other prudent savings of the responsible.

When that happens, all bets are off!

What the MSM will be putting out is the constant sob stories of how the Gov’t closure is ‘destroying’ people’s lives!

“Honestly, I don’t believe these polls. This “support” will vanish seconds after these people are personally impacted in any way, real or imaginary.”

I don’t know how valid or invalid the Rasmussen poll (or other polls) may be. But you are right that the Commie news media will have reporters ready to fan out to find scores of dimwits wringing their hands about a shutdown.

I remember the shutdown under Clinton where they had some airhead crying because the passport office had closed and she wasn’t able to get a passport to join her daughter in Europe. There will be stories that lead the low information voters to think the apocalypse is upon us and they will swallow it hook, line, and sinker.

The only question will be how much backbone Boehner has.

I’m not very hopeful he can take the heat for long.

I can only pray they have the guts to do it. It was sickening how it was passed and who it was written by and not read. And the trick of gutting and replacing. What was that slimeball ladies name from New York that came up with that little trick procedure? Argghh

I’m sorry, but that has to be the funniest thing I’ve heard all day.

I wouldn’t bet a soiled piece of toilet paper on the strength of Boehner’s spine.
