Why a Defund-ObamaCare Strategy Would Succeed
American Thinker ^ | 09/19/2013 | Gene Schwimmer

We are less than one and a half weeks from the Showdown at the CR (Continuing Resolution) Corral, and establishment politicians, of both parties, are panicking.  The latest turn of the screw came last week, when opposition from 43 apparently non-establishment Republicans forced Speaker Boehner to cancel a vote on a CR because that CR would have continued to fund Obamacare.

Fox News Senior Political Analyst Brit Hume concisely captured one source of GOP panic over the weekend, on Fox News Sunday:

[T]he axiom in Washington that when the government shuts down, it doesn't matter who causes it, Republicans get blamed, is still in effect.  This is a very risky proposition.

So it would seem, as pundits -- again, of both parties -- agree that President Obama and the Democrats not only would accept, but actually would welcome a so-called government shutdown -- hoping to ride the public's anticipated anger all the way to a takeover of the House in 2014:

I think [President Obama's] gamble is to take back the House in 2014, which is why I think he may want a shutdown, [Wall Street Journal editorial page editor Paul] Gigot said on ABC's This Week panel.  Because that's the way he can blame it on the Republicans, blame any economic fallout on the House Republicans, and say, 'You've got to give me the majority for the next two years.'

We’ll fund the government.

Just not the hated 0bamaCare part.

Only the Senate and 0bama can shut down the government because they require funding for the hated 0bamaCare.

I think this strategy is prolonging the economic agony. Most Americans are only against parts of the package, not the whole thing. Between the prez delaying parts and congress threatening to delay other parts, some states doing it and some not, the future is so uncertain nobody can plan anything. This needs to be implemented or scrapped, period.

Any DC vermin who doesn’t vote to defund needs to be identified, exposed, and voted out of office!! Voting for this Holocaust goes against the majority of We The People!!!

To quote Mark Levin, it’s tyranny!!!

Better to scrap and start over again.

What’s with all these patches?

A patch here, a patch there, a change here, a change there, implement this but delay that... waive this group but not that group...

In the end we have a very unwieldy law not even the writers themselves understand. How the heck do you expect any sane businessman to know what’s in this 3,000 page monstrosity?

Even Pelosi can’t understand what she has been advocating (remember -— “Just pass it to see what’s in it”? ).

Even Justice Antonin Scalia recognize the impossibility of wading through it ( he called those who are forcing them to read it inflicters of cruel and unusual punishment ).

If the purpose of a law is for people to obey it, then the first requirement is making it UNDERSTANDABLE.

So, SCRAP IT and START OVER AGAIN.

Yes, very true, but why? It’s the lamestream media that blames republicans for it.

Besides, the House GOP is NOT wanting to shut down all the government - just defund Obamacare. Of course, that will be extremely under-reported by the media.

On the other hand, Obamacare is disliked across the board by everyone outside of the DC beltway. Defunding Obamacare could be the win/win that republicans need to take the Senate and retain the House in 2014.
