The Chicago Tribune Proves It Cannot Get It Right
Extrano's Alley, a gun blog ^ | 17 September, 2013 | Stranger

In this morning’s anti-gun editorial, the Chicago Tribune makes mention of Jeffery Johnson. Regular Alley readers will recall Johnson, despondent after exhausting his unemployment compensation, who returned to the Empire State Building to empty a revolver into the former boss he blamed for losing his job. The NYPD, the “Gang who cannot shoot straight” finally admitted wounding eight bystanders before they managed to shoot an unarmed man to death.

But here is the way the Trib’s editorial writer describes that tragedy:

Barely a year ago, Jeffrey Johnson, who’d just lost his job at a New York women’s apparel firm, returned to his former building with a pistol, killed a co-worker and then shot eight others along Fifth Avenue before police gunned him down in the shadow of the Empire State Building.

This is of course the same standard of accuracy the Trib applies to news reporting. Say what you think whether it is factual or not. And these are the people lining up for another go at gun control. In this case, using “workplace violence” as an excuse. (click on the graphic for a clearer view.)

0workviolence

During the period covered by the Bureau of Justice Statistics chart on the left, the incidence of workplace murder dropped from 980 per year to just 375 in 2011. Obviously, the incidence of workplace violence dropped by 61.73% between 1993 and 2011.

During that same period; 32 States instituted Concealed Carry Weapon laws, most granting some means of lawfully carrying on the job. The overall homicide and violent crime rates dropped by 48.64 percent and 52.04 percent, respectively.

Obviously, the Chicago Tribune’s editorial staff needs to be given back their mop and bucket. As does the rest of the captive media, which can do little more than parrot the uninformed maundering of the mentally deficient – who believe that a policy that has resulted in 65,000 of what Chief Inspector Colin Greenwood of the West Yorkshire Constabulary described as “bloody failures” will work, if we try it just one more time.

That is not journalism, that is facticide. Facticide on top of malpractice.

When I looked for subjects to check off, I started to check off on "Government", then realized it was because I have come to view the MSM as part of the government.

It shows how far we have fallen.

Dear Illinois State Police: Here’s what we recommend…
September 18, 2013

The Illinois State Police have stumbled badly in their efforts to approve instructors for the new Illinois Concealed Carry law.

With over 1,000 applications sitting in their offices, they’ve approved twenty-three as of a moment ago. Less than two dozen – and none in the last week!

They’ve approved exactly zero courses as well, so the less-than-two-dozen instructors have literally nothing they can teach.

People are beginning to ask if the Illinois State Police should be renamed the Incompetent State Police.

If they cannot handle approving 1,000 instructors in a timely manner, how in the heck are they going to handle the anticipated 300,000 applicants who are expected to apply within the first thirty to sixty days once applications are available?

At this rate, they aren’t; it’s going to be an epic failure by the Illinois State Police....
