I don't think I have ever posted a Vanity, but there is a first time for everything.
I just wanted to extend my thanks to Free Republic and all of the FReepers who make this site worth while.
I joined on this date 5 Years Ago, so you could say I have been FReeping 1/5th of my Entire life.
I knew it meant something special that I joined on Constitution Day (and the anniversary of the Battle of Antietam) Never in a Million Years would I have thought I would have enjoyed it they way I do now.
I first Found FR. sometime in 2007 when I was in College doing research on the U.S. Navy's Retention of the Iowa Class Battleships, and I found a FR thread about the subject, I wondered if this was a political site or not.
I soon found my self coming back to catch up on the News and read the Commentary.
Even back 5 years ago sitting here trying to pick my name would I have ever thought I would have learned so much, and shared so much.
It is now 5 years later that I understand what FR really is. It is the Bleeding Edge of News Scoures. When Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck says "Show Prep", they really mean "I (or my staff) were browsing FR's Latest Articles Page".
Take Ubama's latest Action waiving regarding arming terrorist, I am only hearing about it now in other Conservative news circles when FR had it, what? Two Days ago.
That is what Ubama does, when he said "Change" he means it.
Something that is frightening that I realized while reading FR some time ago, was that he has succeeded in Changing us Conservatives as well.
But, perhaps for the better, how many things do you know now that you didn't 5 or 6 years ago? How much have you learned about your own countries history?
Another thing Ubama has changed in my own family is guns, growing up, we weren't gun people, they were thing that were nice to have I guess, but we had no use for them. We didn't shoot, we didn't hunt.
All my dad has was an ancient pump action 22 he acquired back in like, the 80's, that I don't think could have worked if I even knew how.
However now, a new job and expanding family, I have more and know more about them than I ever did growing up.
Now as for the negative change Ubama has brought (and it is legion) Do I believe this change is irreversible or permanent? No, We can and will roll it back, but perhaps not change it back, if you get my drift. It cannot be denied that the regime has changed America like a Stampede changes your front yard. But you will be better prepared for next time.
Either Way, Thank You my FReeper Friends, I would like to thank you all for making this such a wonderful site, Thank You all for sticking with me with Sarah Palin's Ping list, that is a great Honor to be one of the Holders of the Ping list of one the Greats Conservatives of our time on the Best Conservative Site on the Web.
Here is to another 5 Great Years!!!
G-d Bless You All!
Well Welcome again ... just finished eight years myself.
I seem to vaguely recall a couple other monarchists after B-Chan went away
Well met, KC_Lion.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
I have toenails older than 25.
Here's a thought.
Getting news and analysis two or more days in advance of the MSM tends to marginalize the news itself. Talking to co-workers about the latest news they just heard, and you already knew that, you already got the details and the context and are way ahead of them. Great, awesome, you're a smart guy and nobody will discuss anything with you.
You scare them.
Now, come back to FR and your not "That Guy" you are here to catch up or stay on top.
Bringing up news that has been digested on FR before lends the topic to be relegated too the "Been There, Done That" status as it's importance is minimized in favor of the next item that keeps us ahead of the masses.
Just a thought.
You are a valuable addition here on FR my FRiend! Your energy is infectious! Congrats on 5 years!
Congratulations on you five year anniversary.
I’ve have sent my college aged daughter here for research and insight when she needed to write a paper on “Gun control”.
When she needs support for her position on constitutional issues that will be challenged in class, She finds it on FR.
I think it was Churchill that said “”If you’re not a liberal when you’re 25, you have no heart. If you’re not a conservative by the time you’re 35, you have no brain.”
What should I make of my little girl who has been a hard core conservative since she could speak ?
She was just born smart!
She was just born smart!

I’m very thankful.
There is something to be said about how some people “just get it” and how others seem to either struggle or don’t have the interest for greater understanding.
Our culture sadly promotes the lack of interest.
Some time ago I asked my daughter “What does it take to change a persons worldview”, she fired back in an instant “Crisis”.
I believe the progressives of today are cognitively using government support as a cushion to keep individuals from experiencing the type of crisis that would change their worldview.
Happy FReepB-Day ;^)
Shalom!

Congratulations KC_Lion! Now you can start saying stuff like “FR was never like this in the old days.” Sometimes it’s even true... ;-)
