Allow me this morning to make a detour from my regular posting about news and politics. There are some things that go beyond the pale and are hard to describe, but beg to be written about. Without sharing the video of Miley Cyrus and her raunchy dance at the opening of the MTV Video Music Awards, I can not describe the disgust I felt. I was doing my normal reading of the news this morning and came across a website that had a copy of the video embedded. I made it through to the point where she took off her clothes before I turned it off. I couldn't stand watching this young woman degrade herself any longer.
Just so we are clear, I normally do not watch such videos. I am a fan of gospel music, with a few country songs (if they aren't about cheating and drinking) tossed in for flavor. I do not listen to, or watch, the kind of music and videos that are making millions by selling sex and raunchy behavior to teenagers. If you want to see what I mean, I am sure you can find the video of Miley Cyrus and her dance at the MTV awards. If you haven't seen it, trust me when I say this, it's downright nasty.
I have watched a few clips of the Disney show that starred Miley Cyrus as Hannah Montana. It seemed to be a fairly wholesome show about a teenage girl who was a pop idol in her secret life. The clips I have watched were funny and the show seemed to be more of a comedy than anything else. That's a far cry from what climbed out of the belly of a giant teddy bear last night when the MTV awards opened with Miley Cyrus.
I am not a naive person. I have no problem grasping the concept that not everyone holds the same moral values that I hold, that I was taught when I was a boy. I have no problem realizing that not everyone likes the same kind of music. Many of the bloggers I am acquainted with share some of their rock and roll music with their readers and from time to time, I have shared some of the gospel music I enjoy. That's not what this post is about.
There are many people in America who bemoan the fact that our children seem to hold little or no morals. Many of them wonder why this is, but it shouldn't be a big surprise. We have teenager girls acting like little sluts and teenage boys acting like hoodlums and gangsters. Those kind of lifestyles seem to be glorified in our country. And we have the audacity to wonder why this is happening? Take a look at the MTV awards last night and you might get a clue.
Is there any wonder why we see so many teenagers with drug, alcohol, and sex problems? When they look up to and worship someone like Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga, what else can we expect. Garbage in, garbage out.
Oh its “culture” alright, just not good culture that in the end benefits humanity. MTV strongly reflects far left even anything goes culture.
Regrettably, it is probably going to require SHTF to either eliminate “that” culture or separate us from it.
The song title “We Can’t Stop” is appropriate. This industry cannot stop in it’s headlong rush to the gutter. Every performance must be a little bit more outrageous than the previous one, otherwise it gets no attention.
What I found interesting is that nobody, particularly the African Americans in the audience, found this act at all amusing. The fake audience around the stage stood up and waved their arms, but only because they were paid to do so. The people watching in the audience were bemused, at best.
Bookmarked for viewing after work...
someday reality will smack leftists and they will say its unfair
In the best of times for the Folies Bergère in the 1890s, competition was fierce among young women competing for personal attention possibly leading to success.
One evening, while performing with dozens of other young women on stage, a dancer had a “wardrobe malfunction”, when the overburdened seams of her undergarments finally gave up the ghost mid-dance. Such was the scandal that the young woman immediately catapulted to stardom.
Soon, hardly a performance could go by without intentionally weakened stitches exploding under stress. As a critic of the time noted, “It was often hard to hear performances beneath the sound of the tearing of fabric.”
Times change. But there is nothing new under the Sun.
Thier act, despite being designed to play on teen hormones, had a certain honesty in it's overt raunch, this act was more freaky and disturbing than raunchy, and was played to a mostly unsuspecting audience.
Miley Cyrus certainly changed her teen popstar image...I'm just not sure why she wanted to replace it with repugnant skeezy tramp.
There are black squirrels in my town. I thought I would spit up when I heard the high school kids refer to them as Squiggers. Even the black kids.
Stuff can be funny when you leave kids alone.
Cyrus, like Lady Gaga and Madonna, has discovered that raunchiness can be used as a substitute for the lack of any real musical talent.
Majority of women it seems these days are not ladies. Im fortunate to have a lady as my wife.
“Is there any wonder why we see so many teenagers with drug, alcohol, and sex problems? When they look up to and worship someone like Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga, what else can we expect. Garbage in, garbage out.” ............................. He got it right. If you are good, you don’t need to make a production with fx. and turn it into a strip show. Look at Jacki Evenko, she doesn’t need anything other than her voice, and hopefully she will not take the same route as Miley Cirus and Lady Gaga.
*snicker*
But seriously, has she a mental disorder? Who acts like that in public?
Who acts like that in privacy?
Maybe porn "stars"...I guess....What a nightmare performance.
I miss the days when MTV actually had videos, and even rock videos.
“Look what they’ve done to my brain...”
spot on. thanks for posting ...
I can’t believe they just showed part of that porno on FNC!
I initially read that as "on this server" -- G_D knows, FR has enough problems already.
But whatever, I feel the same as you do.
LOL! Please leave the FR servers alone...may they be the LAST thing to swirl down the drain!
Thay photo has circulated so much in the last 12 hrs it has already become iconic.
Rhianna looked pissed. This, after all, is her schtick. And she actually is black.
