Allow me this morning to make a detour from my regular posting about news and politics. There are some things that go beyond the pale and are hard to describe, but beg to be written about. Without sharing the video of Miley Cyrus and her raunchy dance at the opening of the MTV Video Music Awards, I can not describe the disgust I felt. I was doing my normal reading of the news this morning and came across a website that had a copy of the video embedded. I made it through to the point where she took off her clothes before I turned it off. I couldn't stand watching this young woman degrade herself any longer.
Just so we are clear, I normally do not watch such videos. I am a fan of gospel music, with a few country songs (if they aren't about cheating and drinking) tossed in for flavor. I do not listen to, or watch, the kind of music and videos that are making millions by selling sex and raunchy behavior to teenagers. If you want to see what I mean, I am sure you can find the video of Miley Cyrus and her dance at the MTV awards. If you haven't seen it, trust me when I say this, it's downright nasty.
I have watched a few clips of the Disney show that starred Miley Cyrus as Hannah Montana. It seemed to be a fairly wholesome show about a teenage girl who was a pop idol in her secret life. The clips I have watched were funny and the show seemed to be more of a comedy than anything else. That's a far cry from what climbed out of the belly of a giant teddy bear last night when the MTV awards opened with Miley Cyrus.
I am not a naive person. I have no problem grasping the concept that not everyone holds the same moral values that I hold, that I was taught when I was a boy. I have no problem realizing that not everyone likes the same kind of music. Many of the bloggers I am acquainted with share some of their rock and roll music with their readers and from time to time, I have shared some of the gospel music I enjoy. That's not what this post is about.
There are many people in America who bemoan the fact that our children seem to hold little or no morals. Many of them wonder why this is, but it shouldn't be a big surprise. We have teenager girls acting like little sluts and teenage boys acting like hoodlums and gangsters. Those kind of lifestyles seem to be glorified in our country. And we have the audacity to wonder why this is happening? Take a look at the MTV awards last night and you might get a clue.
Is there any wonder why we see so many teenagers with drug, alcohol, and sex problems? When they look up to and worship someone like Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga, what else can we expect. Garbage in, garbage out.
She was trying to be Madonna. She does not realize that the market for sluts is over-saturated these days, and she would have done better to preserve a wholesome image and do country. I get the impression that she has surrounded herself with a lot of gay advisers, who are lying to her about what the real market wants.
Looks like she/s well on her way to “Has been-ville.”
You’re right.....she (or whoever came up with her act) basically ripped off Lords of Acid.
Lords of Acid was at least original, and they were always well-known for their rather raunchy act.
The slut has little actual talent, & isn’t pretty either.
The whole set is an LOA Album devil girl cover. I think it’s funny. Pathetic as she lacks the body to pull it off, but funny.
Is tht the same Kerry daughter who appeared in public with a see through dress?
Consider the reaction if she came out dressed to the nines, in a classic-but really sexy—gown.
Simple. Nice lines.
If she is a good singer, she could pull it off to a standing ovation.
The issue is that most of singers, cannot sing. They rely on choreography to make up for a lousy voice.
If you want to see a cabaret show, I guess that is OK. Just not my cup of tea. And I am NOT some old fogey...And I like to see pretty girls, looking pretty.

LOL! Funny, and not in the good way.
What’s that on top of that woman’s head? A Yorkie?
Good singers not needed

Or if you are doing it in a studio, Melodyne. I have it. You can make anyone pitch perfect and morph sound like play dough if you are good.
Anyone with a body/looks can be a star.
Agreed.
“Its actually sad, because the girl can sing. Too bad she feels like she has to act a like a whore to get attention.”

I hope some guy is benefitting from all that pent-up energy.
Bald guy cannot even look at her.
You don’t even need to be human anymore.
Hatsune Miku, Vocaloid/anime superstar.

And they'd better be nice to the recording engineer:
Sound man disciplined for raising pitch on soloists
We used to have music, when our culture was great. Now we have sluts and pimps on stage.
Got Avanna...the english version basically, too ;)
Japan has entire charts dedicated to Vocaloid music. Over here it hasn’t caught on as it’s hard to program to sound really good solo. The English language with all its details is a lot harder than Japanese...but it CAN be done. When Yamaha gets the software more user friendly, it will rule. No ego chick to deal with and 3d imaging is totally real now.
Ok, I just dug up the vid of Cyrus’ amazing “dance” number.
I’ve got a quite high tolerance for twisted and bizarre stuff.
That had me jaw-dropped and thinking WTF is THIS shit?
I’m tellin ya Gunner. Total FAIL at Lords of Acid. She has not the body. The singing ability, or thr looks.
She dances like a spaz.
It’s a gay man’s idea of what sells to horny teens. That’s it.
