Allow me this morning to make a detour from my regular posting about news and politics. There are some things that go beyond the pale and are hard to describe, but beg to be written about. Without sharing the video of Miley Cyrus and her raunchy dance at the opening of the MTV Video Music Awards, I can not describe the disgust I felt. I was doing my normal reading of the news this morning and came across a website that had a copy of the video embedded. I made it through to the point where she took off her clothes before I turned it off. I couldn't stand watching this young woman degrade herself any longer.
Just so we are clear, I normally do not watch such videos. I am a fan of gospel music, with a few country songs (if they aren't about cheating and drinking) tossed in for flavor. I do not listen to, or watch, the kind of music and videos that are making millions by selling sex and raunchy behavior to teenagers. If you want to see what I mean, I am sure you can find the video of Miley Cyrus and her dance at the MTV awards. If you haven't seen it, trust me when I say this, it's downright nasty.
I have watched a few clips of the Disney show that starred Miley Cyrus as Hannah Montana. It seemed to be a fairly wholesome show about a teenage girl who was a pop idol in her secret life. The clips I have watched were funny and the show seemed to be more of a comedy than anything else. That's a far cry from what climbed out of the belly of a giant teddy bear last night when the MTV awards opened with Miley Cyrus.
I am not a naive person. I have no problem grasping the concept that not everyone holds the same moral values that I hold, that I was taught when I was a boy. I have no problem realizing that not everyone likes the same kind of music. Many of the bloggers I am acquainted with share some of their rock and roll music with their readers and from time to time, I have shared some of the gospel music I enjoy. That's not what this post is about.
There are many people in America who bemoan the fact that our children seem to hold little or no morals. Many of them wonder why this is, but it shouldn't be a big surprise. We have teenager girls acting like little sluts and teenage boys acting like hoodlums and gangsters. Those kind of lifestyles seem to be glorified in our country. And we have the audacity to wonder why this is happening? Take a look at the MTV awards last night and you might get a clue.
Is there any wonder why we see so many teenagers with drug, alcohol, and sex problems? When they look up to and worship someone like Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga, what else can we expect. Garbage in, garbage out.
I saw that picture. It speaks volumes about Miley Cyrus and her raunchy song.
Heartbreaking. Just sad.
Is that the new pedo bear on stage with Mily or is that sleazy bear? Maybe the new crystal meth bear.....
Why do they have a video music award when MTV doesn’t play music videos anymore?
The should have just put a shark up on the stage. Everyone could have jumped it.
Its actually sad, because the girl can sing. Too bad she feels like she has to act a like a whore to get attention.
Heartbreaking. Just sad.
that would be achybreakyheart breaking... per dad
In my very minimal idle curiosity on this subject of child stars and Hollyweird, I wonder what would happen to Shirley Temple in todays milieu? When the child star is surrounded by and immersed in a corrupting culture, does it have ANY CHANCE of remaining clean AND being a continuing successful actor?
The irony here comes from the victims who, while decrying the abuse they have suffered, remain committed to the licentious liberalism and political culture that fosters and condones the abusers. Roman Polanski and Woody Allen come readily to mind here.
In our entertainment industry that is what they want the females to be and if they want to work . . .
Miley big time ho now.
This ugly duckling is never going to blossom.
Will looks kinda into it...
How dare you insult ho’s.
Miley is creating her own class to be judged in.
Wouldn’t surprise me to learn Madonna has some management rights.
Love those reactions from the Smith daughters. Kind of reminds me of the Kerry daughters on-stage at the VMAs in 2004:
I was going to be clever and come up with individual thought balloons for what Will and family were thinking, but on second thought, I think one collective “OMG! WTF?!” pretty much covers it 100%.
I believe the inset photo is actually Lady Gaga, who, as I understand it, began her act dressed as a nun and then stripped down ... that.
Ok, just watched it on YT.
See Lords of Acid circa early/mid 90s for where she got...or her handlers got the idea. Look up “I sit on Acid” the live version.
Even in televised pors they can’t be original.
