I spelt “scarred” incorrectly. And you’re correct, I don’t see any humor either, upon reflection. Sorry. Sometimes when I’m silly it comes off all screwy.

Actually, your right to travel unrestricted is a traditional right that is supposed to be a legal freedom from before the founding of this great nation.

However, if you wish to obtain a "Driver's Licence", then THAT is a privilege that can be restricted, since the legal definition of a "Driver" is: 'someone who transports another person or persons for hire'. Paraphrasing since I cannot find My copy of Black's Law Dictionary, 6th Ed. since the last change in physical location.

I moved from CA to AR in 2009. The DMV experience was wonderful and amazingly easy. It took 5 minutes to register my vehicle at a much lower rate. About a year later it was time to renew my license and I spent no more than 10 minutes at the DMV and it was done. Move to Arkansas. I feel a thousand times freer and less hassled than I did in California. Liberal red-tape is a big part of the reason I left CA.

Government can grab cell phone location records without warrant, appeals court says

http://investigations.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/07/30/19781508-government-can-grab-cell-phone-location-records-without-warrant-appeals-court-says?lite

A key basis for the ruling: The use of cell phones is "entirely voluntarily" and therefore individuals who use them have forfeited the right to constitutional protection for records showing where they have been used, the court held.

Pretty much sums up why I've left Ohio three times in my life (the last time they zapped me with about four grand in taxes on money I didn't even earn there!)

California tried to extort something like $50K out of me for back taxes in years when I lived in Texas. Took weeks and weeks to straighten it out, then get the liens removed from my credit report.

My wife just found out that they've now filed another lien with the L.A. County Recorder's office for back taxes in even later years.

Arrrggghhhhh.........here we go again!

they called my honest, unadorned account a lie simply because they were, at that time, claiming a Certificate of Live Birth was as good as/the equivalent of a LF BC.

When I had to turn in my old California drivers license and get a new Texas license some years back, I found out that they don't accept anything other than a long form, state issued birth certificate for identification purposes.

Hospital certificate: Rejected
Certification of Live Birth: Rejected

It took me six weeks to get a copy of my long form bc from the Monterey County hall of records.

Place of birth. My parents left when I was less than two years old thank God. That meant I had to get a raised seal BC from NYC and an official letter from PA saying my drivers license was really expired.

That is why I no matter where I live, I keep my DL in the original state. Last year I flew cross country to renew it. It took ten minutes - the renewal, not the flight.

You just don’t know me yet. Grin. I’m really rather quite awful. Terrible on the eyes.

It was the same for me. I thought having a MA driver’s license in good standing should count for something. (Maybe it did, but not for much.) The anti-birthers told me that by law all the DMV could demand was a Certificate of Live Birth. The DMV bureaucrat told me not to bother coming back unless I had my LF raised-seal BC in hand.

Guess which of the two got the final say over whether I’d get a GA driver’s license? You guessed right.

Note from poster:
The gal at BMV told me it was going to get worse on August 8 due to new changes.

OHIO PING

After living in Ohio for almost nine months, I decided to finally get around to changing my PA driver’s license, registration and plates changed over to Ohio.

SNIP
“You’ll need your current driver’s license, a Birth Certificate with a raised seal, your Social Security Card, a utility bill that is proof of your Ohio residency, and if you were ever married we need your marriage license or divorce papers to prove the name change, if your name is not the same as your birth name. Also, if there’s a lien holder on your car, we’ll need that information. There’s a form we have you need to fill out and send it to the lien holder so we can change your Title to Ohio.

SNIP
I go to the BMV.
SNIP
She handed me a six-inch thick manual and I thought once again, you need an entire instruction manual to do this? What is going on here?

SNIP
She gave me a form and explained it had to be filled out, faxed to the lien holder of my car, (which I first of course had to get their fax number, yet another phone call to make) and then they were at some point going to fax the Title of my car over to the Clerk in Steubenville. In about one week from the time I faxed it, I was to call the number on the form to see if they had received it. I wasn’t sure I got all of that and she repeated the whole thing again.

SNIP
“Suicide Hotline, how can we assist you today?”

“Hi, I’m trying to change my license and plates and Title and registration and everything over to Ohio from Pennsylvania and – “

“Hold on dear, we have a special division for that.”

SNIP

“Oh yes,” he told me, “We get thousands of calls a week just like yours. You’re not alone.”

SNIP
Five hours and some seven phone calls later, Doug, nor anyone else, has called me back.

To be continued…

I laughed out loud for real a few times reading this.

I’m an Ohioan.

No illegal Pennsylvanians will cross our border. We have no fence. We have a bureaucracy!

After forty years of driving and picture licenses in this state, the PC fools at DMV are requiring my birthcertificate for my next renewal so it wont seem UNFAIR to ask people that THE HAVE NO INFORMATION ON for THEIR birth certificate.

I hate dealing with the license nazis but I think their policies discourage illegals from taking up residence so I don’t complain.

I’m pretty sure I’m never moving out of state again. And if I do, I’ll keep a dual residence!
