There are no “Sanhedrin” There are no holy courts until the messiah comes and establishes them. That is both prophesy and Jewish law. This is fantasy.

Their definition of Sanhedrin is not the holy courts of the Talmud or as described in other historical writings.

They are borrowing the term and applying it to some secular definition of a political body. It is a far cry from the religious courts established by a Jewish king.

As far as I have ever learned, the Rabbis of that period believed in an afterlife.
