Jerks come in many shapes and sizes, but one factor is constant. Their ability to somehow ignore logic and reason and immediately go to the most base argument of that you’re against them for some nefarious reason and that you’re evil for doing so. Progressive liberals favor this insane leap of logic as they usually do not have a single solid reason for their failed policies and beliefs that they can point to.
Our Jerk of the Week is one such progressive intellectual, and that person is the head of the Louisiana Democratic Party, state Senator Karen Carter Peterson. This week, Peterson took to the Louisiana Senate floor to give a diatribe against those who oppose Obamacare. Her reason that so many are against giving up their hard-won liberties to the federal government? Why, it’s because we’re all racists, of course!
This tower of idiocy railed, “I have talked to so many members both in the House and the Senate, and you know what? You ready? You ready? What it comes down to? It’s not about how many federal dollars we can receive, it’s not about that. You ready? It’s about race,” she said. “I know nobody wants to talk about that. It’s about the race of this African-American president.”
When confronted by the absurdity of her diatribe, she released a statement which said, “I think we should judge a policy by its content, not the person proposing it. To be clear, I didn’t call any person ‘racist.’ Rather, I was simply relaying the truth about conversations I’ve had with my colleagues and the factors they considered on the expansion of Medicaid.”
This is utter bull, of course. This is the standard rules of debate used by the progressive left for decades. If someone opposes your policies, then they are racist scum. This method deflects criticism onto those who actually dare to stand up against overreaching government. Instead of debating the merits of specific policies (and how all socialist-style programs have failed miserably over the years), conservatives are forced to defend themselves against the charges of racism. The whole debate shifts to whether or not opposing groups are racist or not, and the original debate is swept under the rug.
The clarification Peterson issued continues the same tried-and-true Alinsky tactic. She starts out by falsely saying she didn’t call anybody a racist and then goes on to say that she’s just repeating what she heard from her colleagues – i.e. racist conservatives who whisper in the corridors of the state capital of their hatred for Obama because he’s black.
We must never forget that the progressive left lies constantly. They have no successes to point to so they have to resort to clouding the issue and moving the onus off of them and onto their enemies. The easiest way to do this is to label the other side as evil and racism is the most used weapon in their arsenal of hate.
For lying on the Senate floor of Louisiana and for continuing the culture war against traditional American values, our Jerk of the Week is Karen Carter Peterson. Is it any wonder that she’s the head of the Democratic Party in that state?

I wonder if she defends our Governor with the same passion. Funny, the dems in Louisiana don’t play the race card with Bobby.
Karen and all of the other race card dealers are duly ignored; it’s no longer even worth the effort to defend against it.

I noticed that she claims to be black. She looks white to me. Is it fashionable now to claim to be black or native American indian, when you are clearly a white person. It is confusing.
