"We are hearing this tanker that exploded was carrying magnesium and firefighters are going to let this burn out."
Good idea.

Curious. I see no road at the site. Did someone pull an 18 wheeler across 50+ feet of grass and brush onto the track? If so, why?

Must have been a big explosion. We live at least 8+ miles from the site and my wife said that it sounded like something had hit our house and it shook.

It’s kind of unusual for somebody to leave an 18-wheeler straddled across train tracks like that.
The driver must have really had to “go”.
To: showme_the_Glory
They’ve advanced from pressure cookers to stranded dump trucks. There sure have been lots of incidents lately on or around railroad tracks.

During flight deck firefighting training in the Navy, they said not to try to put burning magnesium out. Instead just use the hose to blast it overboard.

If so, why?If you go to google maps, and enter "7500 Lake Drive, Baltimore, MD", and look at the satellite view, there is a rail crossing, but it well beyond the bottom of the picture.
