The Treasury Dept. is a sort of entertaining twist that I just saw come across the wires a couple of hours ago.

That won’t hold water.

The Treasury Dept IG issued a strong condemnation of the IRS a while ago and required several immediate changes. The IRS refused to implement all the changes.

All this does is tick off the Treasury Department.

By the IRS own admission, ground zero for this operation was the Cincinnati Office. That office just happens to oversee the states of Ohio, Virginia, Florida, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina, among several others. Does anything about that list strike you? That list contains essentially every key swing state in the 2012 election.

This harass/delay operation was a deliberate strategy to prevent Tea Party groups from organizing, fundraising, and developing GOTV efforts in those key swing states in time to affect the 2012 general election.
