And they must disarm the “mentally ill.”
The police can only keep you for a limited time before you are given a trial before your peers where they have to present evidence of guilt, and you are sentenced to a limited time of incarceration.
A psychiatrist can keep you for an unlimited time, there is no appeal, no evidence besides their own judgement that you are “crazy”, and they can keep you until you are “cured” isolated in a padded cell drugged out of your mind.
There are real mental illnesses that are biological/genetic disorders. I have two sons. One is an AF pilot, the other suffers from Schizoaffective Disorder. I would really like to see a national conversation about mental illness to help remove the unfair stigma. www.nami.org is a good place to start.
Crazy psychiatrists and psychologists love to call other people crazy. It’s the nature of their game.
If you don't go to a mental health evaluator, you get no mental health diagnosis from the DSM, now version V. I psychologically evaluated patients and used the DSM of whichever version was the latest. It would be up to me to stick that new label on a patient but just because the label is there, I wouldn't have to use it. And, I wouldn't. Such a label would only apply if it was causing a patient not to be able to live his/her life.
If a patient stayed in bed for six months (some long period of time) because he/she thought he/she was sick, couldn't live his/her life and was found to have NO physical illness requiring total staying in a bed, then that label might apply, however I think it would be due to another mental problem and it would be my job to find out what that was so it could be corrected.
Don't think your family doctor is going to slap this new label on you - he/she can't do it.
This is a parable of modern Liberalism and the modern nanny/Welfare State. Mom & Dad don’t want to discipline their kid or spend time raising him so they have the doctor diagnose him as having ADD. A guy is lazy and doesn’t want to work so he gets the doctor to diagnose him as depressed. And they all end up getting subsidized happy pills under Obamacare and perhaps even a disability check under Obama’s expanded SSI SOAR program. So the whole country is crazy, doped up and collecting a government check!!
