Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw may soon receive $1 million from the state of Florida to set up a new violence prevention unit, but his recent comments encouraging people to turn in their neighbors are causing a firestorm.
“We want people to call us if the guy down the street says he hates the government, hates the mayor and he’s gonna shoot him,” Bradshaw told The Palm Beach Post. “What does it hurt to have somebody knock on a door and ask, ‘Hey, is everything OK?’ ”
“How are they possibly going to watch everybody who makes a comment like that? It’s subjective,” said Liz Downey, executive director of Palm Beach County's National Alliance on Mental Illness. “We don’t want to take away people’s civil liberties just because people aren’t behaving the way we think they should be.”
However, Senate budget chief Joe Negron (R) said he “got assurances from the sheriff that this is going to be done in a way that respects people’s autonomy and privacy, and that he makes sure to protect against people making false claims.”
“We know how to sift through frivolous complaints,” stated Bradshaw.

Wasn't that the whole POINT of the founding of the USA? We institute laws to preserve freedom. Somehow it's gone somewhat beyond that point.

We already saw this movie you Ass Hat.
It’s how we got the 1st Amendment, what with the king being displeased we were spouting off about his over reach and being an obsequious ass, not unlike you.
Further, he was damned unhappy about it and enraged we were free thinking and voicing our displeasure about him and not having the good sense to print it on his embossed paper.

From there you are going to do what next? Steal someone’s property for public safety? Yeah, that’s right. I consider a gun, a knife, my fishing pole all property that I paid for out money I worked my ass to obtain.
And then you’ll use the public nuisance laws to tell us we can have the property back after it is adjudicated?

Your not the thought police and you won’t prevent another Newtown or Boston any more than you could stop Cain from killing Able or Lizzie Borden giving 40 whacks or, or, or 800,000 Rwandan’s being hacked to death for being Christians.
Evil exists just as surely love as exists. We can prevent some of it and deal with that which we cannot.
But, in the end Love will prevail as it always has even in the face of evil.
