At graduation ceremonies for my son’s infantry training unit this morning, the speaker was a retired general who sounded dire warnings about the threats facing the United States. The old man’s speech was sufficiently remarkable as to constitute actual news, so I pulled a scrap of paper out of my pocket and took notes:
“It is absolutely unacceptable for leaders in Washington not to be prepared for the unexpected,” retired Army Lt. Gen. R.L. “Sam” Wetzel said in an address during graduation ceremonies for infantry troops at Fort Benning.
Wetzel, who first saw combat as a company commander in the Korean War, remarked that America’s historic pattern is for military decreases in times of peace, followed by unexpected crises caused by enemy attacks like Pearl Harbor, which plunged the U.S. into World War II, and the Communist invasion that began the Korean War.
Wetzel, 82, noted the current threat from North Korea — which has developed ballistic missiles and nuclear weapons — and especially the danger of a nuclear-armed Iran. He said the current problem posed by Islamic radicalism can be traced to the Ayatollah Khomeini’s 1979 revolution in Iran.
“These radical Islamists are out to destroy our American way of life,” Wetzel said during his speech at the graduation ceremonies at Fort Benning’s National Infantry Museum.
What I didn’t realize, until I got back to the motel and did some research, was why General Wetzel was so concerned: The Pentagon is actually proposing the elimination of a brigade the general once commanded.....

What is going on: State Dept Publication 7277, Freedom From War. Phase 2 to Phase 3. Rise of internal security forces, rampdown of military forces and nukes, eventually put more and more under control of global group commands (un, nato, etc).

And, God bless Wetzel for sounding the alarm-I’m reminded of all the retired military that took out the newspaper ad prior to the Fraudulent Selection of 2012 who put in black and white their refusal to support the HOMOPOTUS for another term.
Cutting our ground forces strength is just stupid. We are already undermanned as it is.

This is probably going to work out great: The People are going to need these folks sooner or later.
Russia abruptly departed WWI due to their revolution and eventually descended into a civil war. The marxist forces had to "get their house in order" , and with a few exceptions, their enemies were all domestic. The Russian Communists turned their attention inward to defeat their domestic enemies.
Our own marxists/leftists/collectivists need to "get their house in order" as well. Enemies need to be identified, denounced, neutralized, etc, because they are a threat to the left. The military has been, and still is an organization that doesn't truly lean left, despite all of the social engineering crap to weaken it over the last couple of decades.
Defunding, cutting, purging the military makes a ton of sense if you look at it that way.

When you have an Army commander commenting on the terror murders at Ft. Hood saying “while the deaths here are tragic, it would be a more tragic event if our diversity sufferes.” Complete and utter horseshit from a brainwashed commander. Unfortunately, way too many of them infest our armies, principally at the efforts of those like Obama and his ilk.
We went from fourteen maneuver divisions to ten after Desert Shield/Desert Storm (Ted Kennedy’s `peace dividend’ that worthless creep). If my math is right, cutting eight brigades (Brigade Combat Teams) will equal two less divisions in the Active Army, leaving a total of eight.

It is always the retired Flag Officers that appear to have the courage of their convictions and speak the truth. That is what sickens me about these active duty senior officer political class.
This is very concerning.
