Retired Army Officer: DHS Must Surrender Their War Weapons to Dept. of Defense
Gateway Pundit ^ | March 24, 2013 | Jim Hoft

Posted on 03/24/2013 9:06:50 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

On Saturday March 23, Terry M. Hestilow, a retired Army officer with nearly 30 years of service under his belt, posted this letter he sent to Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) this week. Hestilow wants DHS to hand over their war weapons to the Department of Defense.

The Honorable Senator John Cornyn, State of Texas United States Senate 517 Hart Senate Office Building Washington, D.C. 20510

Re: Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and that agencies preparation for war against citizens of the United States of America

Dear Senator Cornyn,

It is with gravest concern that I write to you today concerning the recent appropriation of weapons by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that can only be understood as a bold threat of war by that agency, and the Obama administration, against the citizens of the United States of America. To date, DHS has been unwilling to provide to you, the elected representatives of the People, justification for recent purchases of almost 3,000 mine-resistant ambush-protected (MRAP) armored personnel carriers, 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition (with associated weapons), and other weapons systems, when, in fact, the DHS has no war mission or war making authority within the limits of the United States of America.

Significant is the fact that at the same time the Obama administration is arming his DHS for war within the limits of the United States against the People of the United States in accordance with his 2008 campaign speech claiming,

“We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set. We’ve gotta (sic) have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded [as the United States military]”–Candidate Barack Obama, 2008......

I wish the letter had been sent to Sen. Cruz. Cornyn wakes up on a different side of the fence daily.

I always ask the question: Why? Civil unrest requires MRAPs? Ever? I would argue that they are only useful if you are at war.

The interesting thing about the MRAPs...basically, they serve only to get you from point A to point B. They aren’t a tank or can be used to ram a wall or building. They burn a gallon of gas in just three to five miles. They require continued maintenance...so after five or six years...they are maintenance hogs for any organization that accepts them.

The flip-over rate? Unless you attend the driving class and grasp that you need to take street turns at less than twenty miles per hour....it’ll flip. Hit a curb at the right angle and turn it just slightly? It’ll flip then. So watch as cops and SWAT guys get into accidents and then ask for total disability for the seven guys in the vehicle, and the cost of running an operation with MRAPs go drastically upward.

Somebody in the MRAP chain paid out a ton of money to get their purchase approved. Follow the money on this one. Find the guy who stamped the approval paperwork, and watch his bank account.

Obviously they’re preparing for CWII, in which they will comprise one side.

I agree. Somebody should write a letter to this retired Army officer.

I wondered how long Cornyn would follow Cruz around and it didn’t take long for him to return to the other side of the aisle. He was one of the 20 Senators who voted with the Democrats and continued to fund Obamacare. Even worse he was joined by McConnell.

America will never wake up in time. The Nazi like brown shirts have now been armed to the teeth. CWII will fail to return America and the DHS is the communists storm troopers that will have taken America.

Throw a bottle of bleach and a bottle of ammonia at an open window.

Look at the Irish troubles, and you see the use of mraps. Or at the Iraq war.

Ever see the ones with the .50 cal mounted on a rotating turret on top? I worked across the street from a company that built those armored turrets. MRAP’s are basically tanks with rubber tires, built specificly for close-in urban combat.

Since I’m from Alabama....where exactly in the state will I be expecting urban combat? (sarcasm included here)

The Bama-Auburn game?

Maybe it’s a perfect vehicle for DC, Philly, Chicago or Dallas. Beyond that....this is pretty questionable spending to me.

Regarding the perceived requirement for MRAPs within the United States for use against it’s citizen civilians, the administration and the DHS may be presuming that the American public / defenders of the US Constitution are and will be at least as innovative and persistent as those creating and fielding IEDs in Iraq and other global locations.
So, I guess that you are correct. We would be at war.....

If they can successfully create violent civil unrest/riots forcing the states governors to use the national guard, then make it appear as if some violent militant group has teamed up with foreign terrorist, the governors will no longer have control the fed govt takes control because it will in fact be an act of war.

That’s where the Weather Underground screwed up, they used domestic terrorist instead of foreign terrorist.

Domestic terrorist it’s a law enforcement problem. Foreign terrorist and it’s an act of war.

Cornyn Cosponsored Cruz Amendment to Government Funding Bill ... Cornyn Votes to Defund Obamacare Cosponsored Cruz Amendment to Government Funding Bill

Cornyn voted with Cruz to defund ObamaCare. There seems to be confusion with this and another vote.

McConnell voted against it. Dementia?
