Republican strategist Karl Rove told George Stephanopoulos on ABCs This Week that he thinks Republican presidential candidates in 2016 could be supporters of marriage equality. Rove my the comments during a discussion on the Supreme Courts hearing on a challenge to Californias Proposition 8 schedule for later this week.
Karl Rove, can you imagine the next presidential campaign a Republican candidate saying flat out I am for gay marriage, asked Stephanopoulos.
I could, said Rove, before turning the discussion back to the Supreme Courts hearing on the issue.
Rove said that he thinks some Supreme Court Justices have expressed sentiments in the past that wide reaching decisions on social issues, like Rove vs. Wade, went too far and that its possible the court could avoid a repeat of that. Theres a possibility, he thinks, that court wants to avoid setting a national standard on the issue of gay marriage like it did on abortion and instead leave it up to the states to decided how to proceed.
What we may see is a decision here that in essence has, not a 5-4 decision, but a 6-3, 7-2, that says leave it up to the states, in fact we could see an 8-1, said Rove.
Watch clip below via ABC
I can see you losing every single election in the future, Karl.
LOLOL! forgot about that one. yep the scotus wil go 7-2
or maybe 6-3,no less
Supreme Court = Owned
all our responsible IMHO
If someone pretends to be a conservative then they say something the left agrees with then obviously the media run wiht it and hurts us.
Younger generation , well it depends where one lives, here I have kids in 3 different aged schools and all of them state how their friends find it disgusting but that is becase it;s not classe as cool here unlike say Boston.
The culture comes under the younger.
The GOP, AARRGGHHH, what a bunch of cowards, Sarah, Col West, Michelle Bachmann, many other good young women who Sarah helped Cruz should be the future of this party IMHO not the elitist establishment, hell if they al break and keep the party conservative then I will put that C for me and not the R..
If DOMA is overturned are these 9 judges seriously telling tens of millions of voters their votes accounted for nothing, that the states now have to acept this and to hell with the first amendment and the basic finding of this country?
There is no way I will accept this and we’re here really because of the stupid party and being out of touch with the base and the the founders and the people
Maybe some day the Republican ticket will give up on marriage but, unfortunately, but he won’t be alive for it (i.e., too far in the future).
Rove pretty much gave himself away a week ago when he accused Sarah Palin of being a “Quitter” for leaving the governorship in Alaska. That was (and still is, I guess) a Democrat TALKING POINT not based in truth.
In fact, CONSERVATIVES, plus Karl Rove without a doubt, FULLY UNDERSTAND why she left, and that had to do with their so-called “ethics laws” (since changed) that made it IMPOSSIBLE to do her job when some looney started throwing out baseless charges.
The fact that he used that term, QUITTER, signaled to me that he has switched sides. There are plenty of other areas to go after Sarah on, but the use of a Democrat Talking Point shows me who he’s now spending his time with.
I will NOT vote for any candidate at any level who supports gay marriage...let the chips fall where they may.
Yep, a huge difference between where I am in the Northeast and many parts of FL.
backing homo marriage would insure the GOP loses at least 1/2 of their base
I, too, could imagine Rove’s and the GOPe’s GOP candidate supporting turd-poker marriage.
Rasputin lives..
I can imagine a lot of things. I can imagine Karl Rove voted for Obama in the last two elections.
Humbug, baaaaaaahhhhhhhh.
In follow up to my first question of men and sheep getting married, perhaps the GOP can propose that at their next appearance on John Stuart’s show. That seems in accord with present GOP strategy.
Yes, God will judge us as a nation.
We must fix our minds by faith towards God, and seek those things that are pleasing and acceptable unto him.
not being funny or sarc but when I get into the north east it is like a different country, though going to south east FL is like the north east
here is my county

It;s not a small county either.
Have you ever been to St Augustine
Most, if not all academic feminist groups have a few pet homosexual activist associates.
I can also imagine very clearly the R party never winning another election and losing Congress, if they keep up this crap. Which they seem to be determined to do. Ping material...
You are correct, as always.
Liberals whether dems or GOPe want conservatism dead and apparently they will do what ever is needed to do that.
