There is a scene in the movie A Bronx tale where the father of a young man counsels his son not to attack another young man over a $20.00 debt which has gone unpaid for too long. The father explains this is a small price to discover that someone is not trustworthy. He tells his son to be glad he has been shown how untrustworthy the other man is in this minor matter. Now you know not to trust him in the future in bigger things, he says.
This small lesson begs the question: Why would we trust school administrators who cannot tell the difference between an imaginary weapon fashioned out of a cupcake and something that is genuinely dangerous?

:: Why would we trust school administrators who cannot tell the difference between an imaginary weapon fashioned out of a cupcake and something that is genuinely dangerous? ::
A question that should be asked at the local school board meeting, IMO.
It’s obviously a rhetorical question. School teachers and administrators are all union, and firing them is harder then getting blood from a stone.
If we took libtard zero tolerance into all spheres of the school life:
1. Girls with bananas in their lunches would be required to be tested for STDs and get a bag of condoms.
2. Boys with bananas in their lunches would get counseling that “gay is ok”.
3. Nail clippers in school gear would lead to self-mutilation counseling.
4. Anything viewed as a snack would have to watch The First Wookie’s health videos - again.
5. A - gasp- soda, brought in a lunch would get hte kid into obesity counseling, fat or not.
6. Any kind of independent thought gets the kid on ritalin. Can’t have uppity kids actually challenging the propaganda.
Zero Tolerance == Zero Common Sense == Zero Thought
In most cases you will probably find that even if the school board thinks that the administration over reacted they will defer to the judgment of the administration because they are the Professionals.
People who run for school board are largely there to control the money to protect their pet programs and are really not at all interested in education or protecting the kids from the system.
School teachers and administrators are all union, and...
Well, drbuzzard, I believe I've spotted the problem. I can think of a solution, though I imagine anybody and everybody else can, too.
Which again leaves us in an ugly situation where we have to dig out the union. Happily there has been some progress made on this in a few states, but by and large public schools being 100% union is the law of the land. TX is about the only state I can think of where this is not the case, though the states which have now cracked down on the public employee unions may well get there.
Once, back earlier in their miserable lives, even these people knew that no amount of chewing can make a poptart dangerous. But that rational part of their minds has been locked up since they started receiving their salary from a liberal organization.
It’s about making the thought of “gun” wrong and punishable.
Here’s a thought experiment. (don’t do it) If you were to chew a poptart into a shape that terrifies liberals, and you were to discard it near a liberal’s trashcan, would they call the cops?
I am an Army veteran and grew up in a time when every kid had a “Fanner 50” cap gun and holster, we played quickdraw in the driveway and had “shootouts” with passing cars. Toy guns were everywhere and we never killed each other.
I actually used to wince when somebody got punched on Hoppalong Casidy, and even as a young soldier, I recoiled at the idea of killing another human being. I’m not at all sure that the depictions of violence in the 1950’s desensitized us to violence. Modern day TV and movie violence surely is a lot more graphic.
Public school administrators are entrenched. It takes a video and 25 witnesses who saw the administrator cut a child’s throat jihad style to get an inquiry started.
Answer: We are failing to raise leaders. We lack unity of thought and purpose. We no longer govern but are in the process of surrendering our right to governance to others.
I used to think these no-tolerance rules were just misguided. Now I understand better that it’s another form of brainwashing. These kids are being taught that guns are evil. It’s no accident, and it has nothing to do with their safety.
Why not fire administrators and teachers that advocate atheism, socialism, abortion and homosexuality?
Yea...try that sometime!.......Let's sing now....."look for, the union label"
Unions+Liberals=Teachers
yup.
One of my favorite movies.
But I’m thinkin that was “Sonny”(Chazz Palminteri), the local Mafia Boss, that told him that actually. Calogero’s Father(Robert De Niro) was very against him hangin around with Sonny’s group.
But that aside, it was a very good point. One I’ve referred to very regularly in life. d:^) Schneeks..
I took my Fanner 50 and holster to school in the second grade when we were allowed to bring a special Christmas present to show....No problem...
I also used to draw against Matt Dillon at the beginning of “Gunsmoke” each Sunday night...(I beat him too!!!!)
