Some great points here.
Then there's that. Best idea, as splitting the hour would cause problems with international time, since the "civilized" world agrees on GMT (UTC).
So THAT’S how the darned thing happened!
:-)
Nicely done. Thanks for posting it.
I hate daylight savings time. I get up early, and this morning I got up with the sun for the last time until May, or thereabouts. Now, when I get up, it will feel like the middle of the night.
It’s a safe bet that the number of automobile accidents early in the morning increases after the time change.
We need year-round standard time.
Thanks Borges.
OMG! How could we have ever survived had you not brought that to the poster and our attention?
Thank God for ClearCase_Guy!!!!!
Are you getting paid overtime for being this weekend's resident spell checker?
Or are you doing this on your own, without any support from the site Mods? If so, God bless your brother, God bless you!!!!!!
DST is Nothing but a conspiracy between the people who make watches and the knobs on the watches to change the time.
Maybe we’ll get a benevolent leader like Hugo Chavez (RIP*) who will just arbitrarily change the clock....
Thanks
I’ve never understood why the entire country volutarily goes through jet lag twice a year. I echo many here on the thread who say, “pick one out and then leave it alone!!”
Indiana has DST now.
Half an hour? Here's a radical proposal: do away with the stupid thing altogether. We don't save any energy. In the Summer, everyone's AC roars for an extra hour till the Sun goes down.
DST is the stupidest thing Congress has thought up since Prohibition. Be done with it, I say.

Yes, of course I agree, as I said in comment #21. It's stupid. My "half hour" quip is just that--a quip to protest the darned thing as it is.
Three to four weeks? Over a one hour change?
Boy, I hope you don't travel much. Jet lag must throw you off for a year.
Daylight Saving Time PING!
I’m in favor of setting the clocks ahead one month in the spring, back one month in the autumn.
You get to a point where you get one sunrise and one sunset per year. The six months of daylight is none too bright as the sun is just barely above the horizon. It tracks all the way round the horizon back to where it started every 24 hours. Once it drops below the horizon it gets dark and stays that way for 6 months. When it's dark at the north pole, the south pole has 24 hours of daylight and vice versa.

GtG
DST makes no sense whatsoever....saving $4.00/year on energy costs...pffttt! Thanks for posting that vid BTW. Good info.
