Illinois State Senator Ira Silverstein (D-Chicago) has introduced legislation that would require Internet websites to remove anything posted by an anonymous poster if someone complains about the content. Under the proposed bill, to avoid having his content removed a poster would have to attach his legal name, IP address, and home address.
As it stands now, pretty much anyone can post anything he wants, Silverstein complained. If he does it anonymously someone who is offended by the posting has no recourse other than to try to rebut it in his own post. This may be acceptable for a person who is articulate, but many people arent.
Silverstein said he isnt worried that his bill could chill freedom of speech. Freedom of speech shouldnt be a blank check to offend other people, he contended. Theres also a need for government authorities to be able to identify potential troublemakers. Restricting web site access to those willing to give their real names will significantly aid this process. If these potential troublemakers are uncomfortable with identifying themselves to the extent that they refrain from posting undesirable remarks is that really a bad outcome?

Waaaaaahhhhhh!
But it is OK for a Congress Critter to lie cheat and steal.....in the line of duty of course.
People should be able to say anything offensive that they want, as long as they limit it to 140 characters at a time.
Articulation problem solved!

Sen. Ira Silverstein declares war on free speech in Illinois
Freedom of speech begins with freedom of thought and THAT’S what all these commie attempts are ... attack the ability to think by making the verbalized thought dangerous ... not illegal .. they know they can’t do THAT, but they want an avenue by which they can inflict pain of some sort ... financial, jail, whatever.

“someone who is offended by the posting has no recourse other than to try to rebut it in his own post.”
Uh, that’s kinda the way it’s designed nimrod.
Otherwise someone can complain just because they don’t agree with a post and have it removed. Censorship at it’s most vile.
I really got sucked into this one.
Geez......
Apparently the author gets some kind of sick thrill sucking people in.
