First lady Michelle Obama, surrounded by servicemen and women, made a surprise appearance at Sunday night's Oscar ceremony when she appeared via live video from Washington to present the award for Best Picture. Jack Nicholson was present on stage to hand off the award to Ben Affleck for Argo.
Obama praised the nominees for the night's highest honor, saying the films nominated for the Best Picture Oscar could teach lessons that "apply to all of us no matter who we are, what we look like, where we come from and who we love." She said she was excited to pay tribute to movies that "lift our spirits, broaden our minds and transport us to places we can never imagine."
Obama then announced Argo as the Oscar winner for Best Picture, a film about the Iran hostage crisis that celebrated a collaboration of the movie industry and Washington.
Some thought the surprise appearance was another inappropriate mix of Hollywood and politics, with President Barack Obama often being accused of using the industry to campaign. Jennifer Rubin of the Washington Post called the first lady's appearance "downright weird:"
"It is not enough that President Obama pops up at every sporting event in the nation. Now the first lady feels entitled, with military personnel as props, to intrude on other forms of entertaining (this time for the benefit of the Hollywood glitterati who so lavishly paid for her husband's election). I'm sure the left will holler that once again conservatives are being grouchy and have it in for the Obamas. Seriously, if they really had their president's interests at heart, they'd steer away from encouraging these celebrity appearances. It makes both the president and the first lady seem small and grasping...."

Oscar’s Imelda Marcos and the Beatles moment.
Yes she should have- because it shocked more people into seeing that “she” is an attention whore of Babylon.
The more people who see through the act, the better.
I don’t care she presented an award, but now that I read she was going on about “no matter what you look like, or who you love” what was that all about?
Actors are people who are actors acting like they’re not acting.
How much did this cost us taxpyers?
They are small and grasping.

I agree!
Plus, I heard a report that toilets flooded the lobby but that might have just been her arrival
She’s just another bad actor.
Didn’t waste my time with the Oscars (or any other such blather), so I was pleased to know I missed that mooch on TV. again.
But Moochelle was just there to demagogue like Evita.
Forget the sequester. Cut off her spending sprees, and we'll save trillions. The spray paint, clay artists, and clothing designers aren't cheap. (It cost big bucks to try to make that woman (?) look like a female.)
The whole time she is thinking “its good to be the king”
In that dress she looks like the Chysler Building.
I would expect that the brain dead American Obots will eventually get bored and tired of the big pompous royal show.
Sadly, the country may very well be finished by then.
Narcissism in a national leader is, in and of itself, ugly. For the society in which such a leader functions his (and her) narcissism’s unceasing demand to be the center of everything is corrosive and soul-destroying, as any number of totalitarian societies past and present will attest. January of 2017 cannot come too soon.
Dang, that’s a lot of ugly in one place.
