This is a standing invitation to my fellow Americans: If congress ever enacts a law mandating the registration and/or a production ban of detachable magazine semiautomatic rifles then you are hereby invited to the town square of your local community. There, burn barrels will be set up and we will publicly burn Form 4473s, FFL Bound Books, state and local registration records, and the sales receipts for every firearm in the United States. On that same day, FFL holders and public officials holding electronic firearms records will simultaneously erase those records, permanently and irretrievably. (Using special file erasure software such as Blancco, X-Ways, and Stellar Wipe, or though the physical destruction of disk drives.)
Spontaneous Gatherings, Spontaneous Combustion
This burn barrel day--likely to be held the day after the President signs any new draconian legislation--will include speeches, public prayers, and the blessing of those who have gathered by ministers, rabbis, and priests.

I can see enough people pissed off that any FFL that doesn’t burn them will find their stores and homes burned for them.
Since a great number of public officials are RATs, good luck with that help!
I say we show up wearing masks of Obama’s buddies, the Muslim Brotherhood.
bkmk
I can see how this would get any store owners whose forms are missing in hot water.
At the risk of drawing down preemptive confiscation of them, I suggest another page from the Sons of Liberty playbook:
“They wuz dressed as Injuns (though the Guy Fawkes injun seemed to be in charge, now as I think about it)! I did not resist ‘cause it seemed useless to do so, we was outnumbered and outgunned and could only watch in horror as they broke open our filing cabinets...”
or: “way I see it, anyone who purchased a firearm here coulda done it. Only thing is, can’t tell you who those people were anymore - ‘ceptin’ for Andy, of course - but you know all about him anyway; he practically put JoBelle through school. Was just thinking about upgrading to offsite security cam storage, but the tapes went up too.”
We should be careful about making any actual such suggestions. It is imperative to protect the lives and livelihoods of the dealers and employees, who have been on the front line between us and the grabbers/infringers already. So, CodeToad, I think your later comment is pushing it a bit. But we must be aware that any attempt to confiscate forms 4473 and so forth, would be an ominous sign.
It is exactly how I see it going down. Magically the keys, safe combos, etc., are known to the Injuns that just burned it all up while the poor store owner was at home asleep.
Remember that an ATF Form 4473 must be kept by the transferor for a period of 20 years.
Call the seller and make certain that their business practice is to destroy those records once they are legally permitted to do so.
Also, dealers should make a note of that practice so people need not ask.
As much as I enjoy John Rawles’ yarns...
I am tempered by the fact that mosst retail outlets that sell firearms will never burn information like this when it becomes necessary...
The signing of any bill like this will create a legal environment from those large businesses to seize the forms, and secure them away from individuals in those companies which would consider such an act...
Whether that is legal to do since those corporate legal beagle’s are not the FFL’s hired by the company in the first place will never be brought to the forefront in the news leading up to the signing of the bill into law...
That is why I never bought a firearm from a big retail outlet knowing that this was a possibility...
What we should plan for is a stance basing our resistance to ANY future infringement is that it should be taken to court, and your defense to the prosecution is the Second Amendment, which is what they should really be trying to nullify...But hey, don’t want to give them too much of an idea...;-)
And even then, the backlash that has the potential to be created in this country is almost paletable...I still believe they are hedging their bets that we will not fight back when all is said and done...
What a horrible position to be in, in this case...
Becaue no one will win that battle...
And the way things are going now, I do not believe we can trust the conservatives in government these days to keep the fight going where it needs to be kept...
Just my opinion...
Tactics of a proud and patriotic past MUST be realized and put into action.
I figure if a war breaks out it will be primal as wars are, and the people will do what they believe they must to secure their lives. If that means finding records of their past that can be used against them and destroying those records they will. People have forgotten what a war is as since the Korean War we have politicized war and made it more of a legal action than killing people and breaking things. I have a feeling the coming war won’t include the people asking permission of the lawyers in the JAG for permission.
If they pass a confiscation law I suggest thirty million of us bring the weapons directly to Washington to, ah, turn them in. I’m bringing ammo since I won’t be needing it anymore and I suggest we make sure congress is in session so they can, ah, witness the event.
