On his Friday radio show, conservative talker and Fox News host Sean Hannity warned that the United States may fall apart if tax rates remain high.
The states are now fighting and battling against their own federal government, Hannity said. Same thing with individuals. If you live in a state like New York, New Jersey, California [or] one of these high-tax states [where] 60-plus cents of every dollar goes to taxes, youll say, What the hell am I doing this for?
A lot of people have told me that, Hannity continued. A lot of people are moving. I noticed that Bobby Jindal moved to remove his state income tax. Hes not stupid. You know whats going to happen in Louisiana? The same thing that is happening in Texas and Florida their populations are soaring. Theyre doing a lot better. State governments are fine. Theyre surviving. They dont have the property taxes they do in New York, which is obscene. In New York, you just pay and pay and pay and pay.
--snip--
People that are fed up with a power hungry, radicalized, abusive federal government intruding into every aspect of our lives, Hannity continued. People are going to say theyre fed up, and states are going to want more liberty and more freedom. Theyre not going to want to tax their citizens to death anymore. If this pattern continues and gets worse and worse and worse, I can see at some point the states saying, Forget it. I dont want to be a part of this union anymore.
Hannity rejected the idea that secession is necessarily a radical concept, arguing that the Declaration of Independence is itself a radical document.

There will be dissolution, but not before bankruptcy and systemic collapse.
Agreed.
Yeah, I am not much impressed by him.
Seems to me there was a entire war about this—and the secessionists lost bigtime. Rant and rave all you want,
this is not the answer.
“Obama and his gang have already divided America into two seperate countries.”
We always were IMO, since Jamestown and Plymouth. When we can agree to disagree we can still travel together. The modern left won’t allow that however. Utopians will not tolerate dissent, as it ruins a nice uniform Utopia.
Years back a Russian political scientist said that the USA would break into several nations—up to five. I saw this as sour grapes after the break up of the USSR, but Now I am not so sure. Maybe he was on to something ans the whole fabric of the USA will be changed. Hawaii becomes a kingdom again, Alaska becomes a Republic, Texas and the south becomes a new CSA (sans slavery) —it could happen. I have never seen the nation so divided by race, class, and political division. A decade ago I would have thought such a thing impossible. Something must be done or we will go the way of the USSR.
I don't either. The way he still panders to the likes of Coulter, Rove, the GOPe and others of their ilk is beyond disgusting.
But, in this one statement he could be right. Obama is overtly trying to set the stage for a revolution, a revolution he wants to win. Let's hope the states prevail and Obama and the socialists are run out of office.
Sic Semper Tyrannis
or states leaving the union
Sic Semper Tyrannis
Up till quite recently not so much as an extension cord was legally allowed to cross the Texas border. I think that changed about 10 years ago so Texas could sell power nationally, but Texas still has it own grid.
Yes we should create another nation in the long run. But nothing is cut and dry.
I just wonder how it will work dividing the current country. The logistics.
I know most Missourians would want to secede, but they had a democrat take over, for now, in 2009 with the Governor and other officials. So that is a problem because the big cities in many states, like Missouri and also Iowa, have hijacked the rest of the state from time to time.
Then you have to wonder what a purple state will do like New Mexico, Florida or Wisconsin. And what happens if Colorado is surrounded by states who have seceded. Because, these last ten years Colorado has gone far off the deep end. But, I could see Utah leaving and Arizona and then Kansas and Nebraska and Wyoming and Montana and Oklahoma and Texas, of course. Maybe even New Mexico.
And if it happens then where does the looney left go in those states? I worry about the people in the inner cities becoming violent. A race war might start or riots or massive protests will break out like after SB1070 was passed in Arizona possibly. So these are just some the things that can happen.
Obama created this situation when he decided he would not be the president of all America. When he decided to lead from the far left, the Union left the States (and not the other way around).
All states have the ability to generate power. Because the power grid crosses state lines does not mean a state cannot secede. Other countries share power grids peacefully. You comment was and is just stupid. Secession does not mean war.

he is wrong in many of the particulars of his analyses, and we have already passed his estimated date of dissolution. Nevertheless we could break up along regional lines similar to those he presented, but not before much worse economic restraints.
People mock the Russians’ warnings and observations on this, but they would know better than anyone else how it could play out. Their system was designed to maintain control through force, with redundant failsafes, and with a disarmed and generally risk averse population, yet they fell. Then they broke up along historical, cultural and ethnic lines.
The United States is not magic. It is not God’s chosen nation. It can fall, and with sufficient abuse and incompetence from within it will fall. Whether America would emerge from the rubble as a phoenix or a buzzard is the million dollar question.
LOL!
Him and Bush's brain were hysterical... The Hannity show was like a political radio Disney, for the easily amused...
And you called my comment stupid? lol, too funny!
Undoubtedly the most important infrastructure in todays world is the POWER GRID. No state can independently exist if it's power grid is controlled by some other state(s). It would be foolish to even attempt it and pretty much guarantee a return to 18th century for a sizable number until an independent grid could be built.
We can do this peacefully this time or have a desperate war and a struggle to the bitter end. I am good either way.
Virgina would not last one week after succeeding, Texas is the only state that has all of the necessary infrastructure and resources. Also Texas once was an independent republic was brought into the USA by treaty. Legally all Texas has to do is nullify the Treaty binding it to the USA. Treaty nullification is common internationally ACCEPTED practice. But hey, this Texan wishes you the best of luck up there in Virgina.
