In a stunning development just moments ago, that left reporters in the room absolutely speechless, Redskins QB Robert Griffin III held a sudden press conference and announced that the entire Redskins teams had voted unanimously to NOT play tonight's game against the Dallas Cowboys until Congress reaches a deal to solve the fiscal problem.
The teams had arrived at FedEx field about noon, to begin warm-ups and pre-game preparations. About 3PM, the Redskins suddenly all left the field, and went into their clubhouse for a closed-door meeting.
An hour later, Griffin emerged, and went before the microphones, after giving the media 5 minutes notice that he would have a "major announcement."
Initially, there was speculation that he was not going to be able to play because he had re-aggravated his injury.
Instead, RG III spoke, only occasionally glancing down at a piece of paper he held in his left hand.
"While tonight's game is very important, far more so is the need for Congress, and the President to come to an agreement on the fiscal issues that we face. Accordingly, my teammates and I have unanimously voted that we will NOT take the field for the game tonight until Congress comes to an agreement. As concerned citizens, we care great;y about what happens in out community, and our country. We have all been following this issue closely for several weeks, talking about it, and when the NFL announced that they were moving the game to 8PM tonight, well, it all just sort of came together. We feel we can make a difference."
"We fully understand that we may forfeit this game, and thus the division title, and our playoff chances, but this is far more important than football. We are well aware that many members of Congress are great fans of the Redskins, and hope that this will motivate them to take action."
"We have no idea if the Cowboys will agree with our position, and support it, or if they will claim victory, and the title, by forfeit. We are just now informing them of our decision. We do welcome their support, and hope they will agree to stay here with us, all night if necessary."
"We are prepared to stay here all night, and the fans are welcome to remain here with us, and if Congress comes to an agreement at 1 AM, then we're prepared to play the game starting at that time."
RG III did not take any questions, and left the room and returned to the clubhouse, which remains closed.
As yet there has been no reaction or comments from any political leaders, but there have been some comments from sportwriters.
Suspended ESPN reporter Rob Parker Tweeted, "I said he was a corn-row brother, and a Republican. ESPN should rehire me immediately."
FOX Sports columnist Jason Whitlock said, "This is unreal. Most of the Redskins are black. You think they'd support Obama. But they're all in the top 1%, and they are obviously more concerned about their own income taxes than the Redskins loyal fans."
NFL commissioner Roger Gooddell said he was waiting to see an instant replay of RG III's comments before deciding if it was reversible.
Griffin was very calm during his brief remarks, and displayed no nervousness. One reporter in the room slyly noted that based upon his age, 22, RG III would be constitutionally eligible to run for president in 2028.
Idiots. The liberal media controls the minds of most of the idiots in this country.
Give them bread and circuses while they enslave us. circus = the stupid football
I think they’re just afraid to play the Cowboys with Hillary still being “questionable” for tonight’s game due to a concussion.
Fantasy football
The GOP must hold, no deal. let them go over the media’s stupid cliff. Lay off the entire federal government starting with the IRS,FDA, EPA, FCC,FEC, OFCCP, HUD etc.
I do not believe it. Obama and Reid couldn’t care less and the Redskins owner will lose millions.
Lol, you’d think people would notice the “humor” tag on the article. Nice work :)
This is like ‘’Shut up and sing!’’ — in this case, ‘’Shut up and play!’’
What about the people who bought tickets to the game?
First the crooks steal our bread, and now they withhold the circus? RIPOFF!!!
No reference linky
I cannot find confirmation.
Hoax or Sarcasm?
still it is true that in the “fiscal cliff” Bs the Republicans have to hold the line and not cave.

It was the only way Obama could get the GOP to budge on the Fiscal Cliff situation. Satire s a funny thing. You know our world s really messed up whenits hard to tell the difference between shock satire and the truth...lol
Very, very well done. The best part is how many this could hook...
Cut off all alcohol on the Hill and they might just buckle down and get something done.
Obvious bullshit, you should have labeled it as satire.
“RGTREE” isn’t running the NFL.
Semi-Satire News had taught me to look for the source. Very Well Done!!
