It’s pre-cooked:

Each can is 9 ounces of fully cooked and drained bacon. Between 2-3/4 and 3-1/4 pounds of raw bacon go into each can. Each can is the highest quality fresh #1 bacon slices. Cured to our specifications, cooked and then hand wrapped, rolled and packed in the U.S.

Between 2-3/4 and 3-1/4 pounds of raw bacon go into each can.

2.75 lbs x 16 oz = 44 oz 9oz / 44 = 80% loss in cooking? Seems high

But it is bacon.

If it was really originally 2.75 lbs before cooking x 12 packages per case, it would originally have been 33 lbs of bacon before cooking. $140.00 before tax or $4.25 per lb.

HOW TO HOME CAN BACON IN A PRESSURE CANNER

You can preserve bacon yourself at home in a pressure canner..

There are a lot of videos on YouTube showing the method of canning bacon yourself.
Just search on YouTube for terms like "canned bacon", "Pressure Canning Bacon", etc.

Here is one video that does a good job of showing the process:

Here is a list of videos showing how to can a variety of meats and other foods:

Not really over $20.00 per pound. Each can contains approximately 3 lbs of bacon which has been cooked(removing the weight of fat/liquid.

That works out to be around $4.44 per pound. And you don’t have to cook it, and it lasts for 10 years.

If it tastes good, I’d say that it’s a handy can of food to have in case of TEOTWAWKI, or an earthquake/natural disaster.
