Between 2-3/4 and 3-1/4 pounds of raw bacon go into each can.

2.75 lbs x 16 oz = 44 oz 9oz / 44 = 80% loss in cooking? Seems high

But it is bacon.

If it was really originally 2.75 lbs before cooking x 12 packages per case, it would originally have been 33 lbs of bacon before cooking. $140.00 before tax or $4.25 per lb.

Before cooking doesn’t really matter. 12 9oz cans of edible product for $140, is expensive to me.
