It’s been my prediction that Obama would win Virginia and the MSM would essentially declare the race over and then Romney would win Ohio, Wisconsin, and Colorado and win the presidency.

I’m a little worried about VA as well. I’m here in Richmond, and I have heard about high turnout in NOVA.

I do not have any information, just sharing my gut feeling right now.

One polling place in Loudoun County (NOVA) had a 2 hour wait at 1200 EST. It was so full that the chief election officer had to gather up a group to empty the paper ballot box, wrap the ballots, in order for more to be cast. He commented that this normally doesn't happen until the evening when the poll closed.

One polling place in Fairfax was steady heavy voting at 0900 EST. The parking for voters at the high school had a line in which to park because it was so full.

Both of these counties are normally in the D column.

“Do we have any news from VA? The Dem turnout machine there is rumored to be massive.”

Dems always lead early. Repubs have to leave work and go to the polls, because Repubs also are less likely to use the early vote option. Common sense people...

All I can say is this, GOP boxes in my area that I know well are off the charts today in Western Fairfax. Drove by one at 4:00 just now and it was still full.

Just heard from two friends, one in Alexandria, one in Arlington that said the lines were very long (this is the strongest D area in the Commonwealth) and that the D’s working the tables outside in both places were freaked out by the number of people taking GOP sample ballots. Not to say they won’t get their numbers there, but they won’t be by the margins they usually run up.

I am in Northern Virginia and the line was massive. The longest I’ve ever waited to vote. Sadly, I am in a Dem stronghold and most of the crowd was pretty clearly not Romney supporters.

Saying that, I have also heard turnout is solid GOP areas is extremely high. Looks to me like both camps got their base vote out.

Massive lines (about 90 minute wait) for the two separate precinct’s at the local elementary school. Very quiet and orderly. Two campaign workers passing out sample ballots and issue papers. The crowd was larger than any I have ever encountered in 30 years in Northern Virginia.

I am in downtown Richmond, heavily democratic. I voted at 7:30 and it was heavy, but I was out within 1 hour. My husband voted at 3 pm. and it took him all of 5 minutes - no wait at all.

Eastern Fairfax county: Much heavier voting. Big line before the poll opened. This is about a 55-45 Republican area. I think many of the additional voters over 2008 are Republican. Just a gut feel. Drove though a lot of the state last weekend and the signs heavily favor Romney.

Two hours in line in Virginia Beach. The line was longer when I left than when I arrived at 2:30.

I am concerned about 3rd parties peeling off enough from Mitt to put Obama in.

I took three days of some of my use-or-lose vacation so I voted early this morning. At just after 6:30 AM in north Stafford County there was a line of about 150+ people and about a third were Negroes.

What surprised me the most was at least ten or more of the Negro couples had the red Republican sample ballots in hand. That could mean somewhere around twenty or more in that line voted for Romney.

There were many military and retired military in line and I pretty much think most of them voted Romney also.

Long line this morning in Spotsylvania, about 200 waiting in line. Democrat volunteer handing out sample ballots had two takers in line accept the Dem sample ballot. It was kind of funny, they looked at the ballot as if it were written in a foreign language. "Who are these people, who'm I s'possed to vote for??" Pretty funny, but also sad.

Most people in line looked like there were there with a purpose, and it wasn't to reelect the president.

Voted today in the 8th .Congressional district in Fairfax, Virginia - Westgate. Arrived at 3:00pm, took 55 minutes to vote, normally takes about 5 minutes. Longest lines for voting ever, going back to 1980 election for Reagan.
