LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Michelle Obama’s trendsetting DNC manicure was more than a year in the making. Celebrity manicurist Tom Bachik (his clients include Beyonce, Jessica Simpson, and Jennifer Lopez) created the color with Artistic Nail Design “a little more than a year ago,” and said the process took a lot of trail and error.
“I was looking at what was popular and kind of where we were going in color,” he told ABCNews.com at HBO’s pre-Emmys Luxury Lounge, where he and his L’Oreal team polished the nails of Emmy nominees and guests. “At the time, the gray-beiges and taupey-beiges were getting really popular but a lot of my clients and their skin tones were more cool, more lavender. So I put a little purple in with the grayish beige to create that tone. It also has a little silver in it to give it some luminosity.”

They probably had their attention somewhat focused on real world events. Today? Not so much. Nail polish is the topic du jour. Nothing else worth talking about, I guess.

OK, as someone who gets her nails done every two weeks, this is important. I get gels aka shellacs and get various undercoats usually trending towards the peach with an overcoat that actually shimmers slightly green. Hey, it’s cheaper than therapy and I’ve been going to the same woman now for 25 years. Sadly she is in love with Obama and claims she has voted for the winner every time going back to Reagan. This is the “who’s cuter” vote. We ignore it at our peril.
And this passes for “news” at ABC?

If this were Ann Romney, it would be spun with snark, concluding that she’s “simply too out of touch.”

When I worked out in the public I too had my nails done every 2 wks. I considered it more of a chore. Hated going. When I started working out of my office at home, I quit having my nails done and switched to my toes. Love it! A spa pedicure in the massage chairs is the best thing I have ever done for myself, and one of the cheapest.
Gotta love her common touch and her empathy with an America that is in the worst financial downturn since the Great Depression, and her Husbands (and her) policies are on the verge of making the current downturn worse than the Great Depression.
She spent more money formulating her finger nail polish than the median American family makes in gross wages in a year.
This is the kind of lavish, expensive and self indulgent behavior one usually associates with African Dictators who steal the wealth of their people to squander on ostentatious conspicuous consumption while the people of their country starves.
And our slavish, trendy media reports this kind of outrageous behavior with with such breathless admiration and hero worship that it is embarrassing.
All the more so because the African press publicizes this kind of extravagance under duress and the threat of torture and jail should they displease the Big Guy, while our Media fawns over the kind Obama extravagant self indulgence, and opulent conspicuous consumption with a voluntary exuberance that is in sharp contrast to the way have reported the behavior of Republican First Ladies or the wives of foreign leaders.
The Obamas seem to be trying to be the living embodiment of the ultra wealthy, casually opulent and extravagant King and Queen in Eddie Murphy's classic comedy movie , "Coming to America."
Unfortunately, with the Obama's real life behavior, the joke is on us, the American People.

True. But at least the people under African dictators can be forgiven since they don’t have a choice. But here in the US we have a 50% brain-dead electorate where the Obamas can do no wrong even as they accelerate US to Third World status. The Islamic world mocks us, Russia’s Putin tells us to get lost, and China ignores the US. In Reagan’s time you would never think of the candidates appearing before Telemundo, now its de riguer.
Demographics is destiny. And we may have reached the tipping point if not arrived at the point of no return. Even as our embassies are attacked in the Middle East, no worries, thousands line outside the consular offices of these countries getting US visas. How else can one account for the scum that have come to our country, who are now elected to Congress, impressed the ACLU to their cause, and changed the political dynamic of an electorate and a nation for the worse.
I don’t care for any of the newer color trends towards greys, blues, greens or yellow. I’ll stick with the pinks. My nails are one of the things I do for me. Can’t afford more than once a month though. It can feel like a chore sometimes.
Now, since my hip replacement surgery I am not allowed to bend over to file my toenails or shave. So my precious husband sent me off for a pedicure and leg wax. Sheer delight knowing I never have to worry about that grooming chore again.

Don’t underestimate the importance of proper hoof care for a good trail horse.
You really want to see “news”? Try watching their early morning “news” pair and you’ll just lose it.
If that's the case, then she needs to wear the new nail color "Slaughter in Benghazi." It blends the color of blood streaks from Ambassador Stevens, along with the color of smoke in his lungs.
