The smart grid: Whats really at stake?
Look at British Columbia: Around the globe, citizens of all walks of life are invited to realize that were all now on the playing field of a corporate control end-game. Through power grid modifications and smart meter installations, monopolistic forces are currently implementing a highly-hackable smart system of wireless utility metering, monitoring, selling private data, and control of life in citizens homes.

I told you why the utilities are installing them. It ain’t about control just because you say they are. They have NO capacity to shut off your refrigerator, your phone, nor your TV. At all.

You keep talking in the present tense. I’M NOT AN IDIOT. I know EXACTLY how my appliances work, I bought them, I installed them, I service them, and I fix them. I know that they have NO DATA LINKS AT ALL. I also know that all changes in 5 years (10 years at most) when people buy new appliances. That is my point - so don’t try the semantics trick on me.
And how are the future appliances talking to your smart meter? Does it involve a consumer choice at all? Yes, it does. There is no forcing. Period.

Probably not, but when you have to pay 5 times as much to use your AC when you want to (as opposed to when it’s cheap), that’s equivalent to forcing 90% of the people...and that is my point.
The bottom line is its supposed to cut down on resistance (The electrical kind).
The cost of using energy has NOTHING to do with a smart meter. Nothing. It has to do with the price of producing energy. Pricing at peak times is going to be higher. It’s supply and demand. It’s capitalism.

AGAIN, most people ON THIS SITE are willing to pay a bit more per kWh to have the FREEDOM to use power when they want, without you guys using your new capability of driving them broke to match your ‘vision’. If you’re against that - fine, but you’re not on a friendly site for that.
You have the freedom to use as much as you want. And the company you buy it from has the FREEDOM to charge you for it. What do you NOT understand about a free market economy?

So you’re good with Dynamic Pricing - that’s fine, just the wrong web site.
Not at all. Dynamic pricing is market pricing. Just because you like the price controls that Carter and Obama support, doesn’t mean it’s a conservative approach.

Obama, with they help of RINOs, have given us ‘smart meters’. Equating ‘price controls’ to having the FREEDOM to drive an use power WHEN we wish tells me that you’ve shot your wad.
So enjoy the rest of the weekend,
