Houston area investigators are looking into a stand-your-ground case where after a minor fender-bender, a 22-year-old white male was shot and killed by a 23-year-old black woman. During a morning commute, Crystal Scott and Jonathan Ables were in an accident and pulled into a Shell gasoline station to survey the damage...

Well how about, he was playing his music too loud so she shot him. Oops. That’s not considered “standing your ground” anymore. Shooting somebody because of a fender bender doesn’t make sense to me. It’s dumb. Really dumb. Life is cheap in this country these days and I’m getting sick of it.
This may have been a simple accident that she called a road rage incident in order to, ex poste facto, justify shooting the guy.
If Obama had a son....
If she shot “through” the window and her car was operational, this will be a God send for George Zimmerman if she is found not guilty.
The witness unaffiliated with either driver disagrees with her account. No argument before the shooting. No pounding.
Pretty disappointed with the comments here. Lots of racial statements. If you believe Stand your ground was good in Trayvon, you should believe the same thing here whether, black/white male/female. If footage shows otherwise that changes but we should be viewing it the same way.
Wayne Kramer is still around. Ask him if he's going to do a fundraiser concert.
PS for all of the MC5's political grandstanding in the 60s (they were the band that actually played the Chicago 1968 DNC protest rally when word on the street was it would be the Beatles or Stones), they got called out in NYC by other members of the White Panthers as being politically incorrect meatheads, not properly politically agitated savy liberals. It was their manager John Sinclair who painted them as political revolutionaries. Wayne Kramer still believes the hype though.
Dude was an angry douchebag and it got him killed.
Give her the gun back and send her on her way home.
Unless there's something I'm missing here this one's very similar to a more famous recent case.
For the record, you’re allowed to post a 300 word excerpt from any source on FR’s green light list.
It’s hard to get a conversation started with just a teaser, and lots of folks will give you grief for posting a cliffhanger like that.
I read that she called 911 before she pulled into the Shell Station.
That’s the big question. The lawyer’s story is diverging from the event and even the police report.
Assuming the report of the incident is accurate(a dangerous assumption now days!)The statement of the witness turns guilt or innocence into a question of fact.
Even rabid dogs 'don't deserve killing,' if we go by what the family and friends say.
Having experienced the wrong end road rage, I can assure everyone that race does not play a role. Road rage is road rage.
I am sure I am not the only driver who has been involved in a fender bender, and failed to rush the other driver's car, pounded on her window and tried to open the other driver's door. This nut deserved what he started by acting like an animal.
If I were on her jury, I would be totally on her side.
All based on the preliminary facts given. What is important and missing is the input from any witnesses (plural) to the event.
I agree with others. Self-defense is self-defense.
I do note that this was in daylight, in a public place with others present, and she was still inside her car so its not an exact equivalent to the more famous case.
So I’ll be curious to see how the investigation turns out.
In this instance, "eyewitness" is a misnomer. He did not see any of the incident until it was over. He is more of an "earwitness".
