I've been here long enough to know that blogpimping is frowned up. But then I looks up after x number of years and see the 'Bloggers and Personal' section of FR. Is it ok to post self-blogged content to this area?
But to hear from a moderator would be the best.
Then why not ping a moderator or send a Freep Mail?
Yep, that’s what that section is for.
Before you post, check for spelling and grammatical errors. The spelling/grammar police will flame you for it and your content will be lost in that fog.
I’d think so. However, some bloggers just post a one-line teaser to force anyone who sees the headline to make the click-through jump to even begin to gather what the post is about.
It’s nice to get a better feel for the thread before being required to boost “click through” counts.
If what you wrote is good enough that people want to see more, that is great. But don't just use FR as advertising for your site to boost your advertising hits.
I think self-blogging is a mortal sin
If you have something to say about the video say it here. And also tell what the video is so people know whether it is worth their time to click on it.
Blog pimping is continual spamming of your own blog as a form of advertisement. Usually what people don’t like is when your own content is excerpted because sometimes blogs are untrustworthy in regards to malware and because it is your own content, by default you can give permission for full posting, there is no ambiguity on that end.
Just posting an article here and there from your blog with no excerpt never has been considered pimping.
For example, one guy a while back was posting dozens upon dozens of links to his ‘pay-per-click’ blog with excerpts only. Never responding except the occasional griping if someone criticized him. That is pimping.
We do however, encourage people to create and share their own content. If your intention is to be part of the community and not just use it for hits, welcome aboard.
One other thing we consider pimping or spam is posting some other source’s content as your own on your blog then posting it here.
For example, if you take a Fox News article and post it on your own blog with no unique commentary then post that here, that is pimping at best and plagiarism at worst.
chuckle ping
My mom caught me self blogging once
HA! I just saw this, too.
Excerpting one’s blog is what gets flamed. Shoot! Even if you DON’T excerpt, you may still get accused of blog pimping.
Thanks all for the feeback.
Absolutely not!
Despite the fact that Free Republic has a Blogger/Personal section, under no circumstances are you to actually USE it, unless you intend to post the full and complete blog article, thereby giving free content to FR.

While I agree with your definition of "pimping", you might want really to tell this to some of the self described blog pimp police. Ive even seen excerpts from blog, blogs with original content that might merely reference a link to another site or article as a matter of reference, and purely original content posted in the section named Blogs and Personal Chat, being deemed as blog pimping and the posters excoriated and driven off this site by the self appointed blog police. And you know how they are.
Darn right.
thereby giving free content to FR
Which is infinitely preferable to giving free advertising to scummy blogpimps.
This is the real Admin Moderator
So "sock" it to him!
(What was your question?)
