The government is providing $100 million in "relief" from ITS OWN REGULATIONS, if it passes.

Government destroys viable productive industry with regulations.

Causes financial ruin.

Steps in to help by taking money from other productive industries thereby destroying them.

How can anyone think this is anything other than insanity. What are they counting on to make it work? What will they do when there are no more healthy industries to destroy in order to prop up the already destroyed? It’s not possible they don’t see what will happen so it has to be intentional.

That photo looks like the breachway in Galilee. Spent many a summer there and love the area. This sucks on so many levels.

it said, fishing stocks have been declining for years,
even with catch limits.
it seems to me, in this case, the catch limit regulations are good.
...in capitalism, when i resource becomes more scarce,
some people will leave the business, and move on.
instead, now, we will PAY fishermen not to fish.
just as we pay some farmers, not to farm.
-
the solution, is to get government OUT of things!

In a free market, overfishing is its own reward. It tells businesses just about how many can be sustained by the fishing industry which does not have a quickly renewable resource.

How does it tell them? Lower catches.

Lower catches result in both higher prices and fewer fishing businesses able to sustain themselves. And if they fish most of the fish gone, then most of the businesses will go out of business.

That in turn will have fewer catching the fish and give them a chance to recover.

So the bottom line is this: the free market is a better controlling force than is the government. Paying fishermen to stay in business is exactly what should not be done.

Industry is devastated by federal regulations

They say that like it's an accident.
