If that happens I hope we do to. If not I may move to Texas. I may live like a $hit dog but it would be worth it.

I don’t think we get a do over with Romney, merely a reprieve.

I thought the Civil War effectively ended the right of states to secede.

If the Kenyan does win and Texas does secede, you can call me “Gone to Texas”.

Texas will never secede again, the economy is too dependent on the rest of the nation to do so. It’s the same reason China would never attack America. But, who are we kidding anyways? Romney will be another G.W. Bush and we’ll be explaining away his decisions for a long time to come.

It was illegal for Texas to secede the first time and it is still illegal now.

Texas v. White (1869)

When, therefore, Texas became one of the United States, she entered into an indissoluble relation. All the obligations of perpetual union, and all the guaranties of republican government in the Union, attached at once to the State. The act which consummated her admission into the Union was something more than a compact; it was the incorporation of a new member into the political body. And it was final. The union between Texas and the other States was as complete, as perpetual, and as indissoluble as the union between the original States. There was no place for reconsideration or revocation, except through revolution or through consent of the States.

If O made the USA the Obamanation, with more unconstitutional power grabs, as a Texan, I would support secession. The constitution does not prohibit secession, and the Civil War didnt settle the question for all time

Secession at pleasure is not constitutional. I would recommend against starting a war with a nuclear power. To get a constitutional secession you need 3/4s of the states for a constitutional amendment, or perhaps 2/3rds of the Senate and the President to sign via a treaty. If you can muster those kinds of electoral support why can’t you get the other legislation you want?

If Obama wins, it's too late for secession.

Obama will instantly declare “Administrative Amnesty” for illegal immigrants.

And Texas will instantly become a “Blue State.”

The Federal government will NBC any state before it would
relinquish control. To much wealth and tax base, the banks
would never allow it. It would totally destroy the faith
and credit of the U.S. Once a state tries to secede, It
would become the countries #1 worst enemy. And
Geneva convention rules do not apply.

Nobody is going to secede over a four year term. If a
president claims marshall law and decides to extend his
term then all bets are off.

If Obama is re-elected that will pretty much confirm America has embraced his degenerate Marxist-collectivist worldview, which will spell the country’s ignoble end. Nothing really left to save or preserve. Thus, as a longstanding Texan, I’d be more than receptive to the prospect of secession.

If Obama wins: Will Texas secede from the union?

I doubt that we would have to.

Four more years of little bammy's communism with the little nutjob flailing around issuing E.O's because he "has been mandated by the election" and half of the u.S. will simply collapse.

We here in Texas, along with a few other "producing" States will simply work amongst ourselves to carry on while the basket-case states fold up. If dee-cee attempts to "federalize" (nationalize) our and other producing states resources they probably will fail outright as whomever they send will simply surrender and request asylum in that state rather than go back to the communists.

Here is where we can quote "the smartest President in history."

It doesn’t work,” Obama said. “It’s never worked.”

How right you are, jugears.

Just not the way you want to be right.

The author is a moron: he thinks that a Rommney administration will "right the ship" and stop "federalism" and put a halt to an "over reaching government" and even break the back of socialism?

And he probably believes in Santa and that unicorns s**t skittles.

So, when Texas secedes, what happens to the leftist onclave called Austin and the University of Texas?

Egad, I hope so.

Let’s have a 1776 all over again if need be but this time let’s write a Texas constitution not just emphasizing civil rights and liberties and more feel-good platitudes, but let it be perfectly balanced by calling attention to the need of civil RESPONSIBILITIES.

The US Constitution hangs like an albatross around the nation’s neck. That’s why we are getting eaten alive by Islam allowing to hide under the guise of a religion instead of a political movement.
