House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif) urged President Obama to follow up his unilateral grant of amnesty to illegal aliens with a unilateral increase in the nations debt ceiling.
Failing to enact immigration reform isnt the only thing Congress has failed at, Pelosi observed. The Senate has failed to pass a budget since 2009. And while Congress was barely able to scrape together the votes to increase the debt ceiling last year I wouldnt want to bet we can do it again.
Enacting legislation when Congress fails to do so is a power reserved to the President under the necessary and proper clause of the Constitution, Pelosi maintained. If it is necessary and proper to grant amnesty to those in this country through no fault of their own, it is certainly necessary and proper for the debt ceiling to be raised. We cant afford to put the nations financial situation at risk by waiting for Congress to move on this. Its an election year and I just dont see how Congress can pull it off. The President must take action.

She must be off of her meds.
Wait a minute ...
got me, just saw the satire heading.
As most learn in high school civics...the necessary and proper clause at the end of Article I section 8 was defined in McCullough v Maryland (1819). In that case Chief Justice Marshall said Congress could do it if it linked to one of the delegated powers.
Marshall said nothing about the executive. All of the Article I powers are reserved to Congress.
Pelosi doesn’t know what she’s talking about.
This witch is pimping tyranny. What’s she smoking? She needs to STFU! What an embarrassment she is. I really do think the Botox has seeped into her brain.
Of course she needs the debt ceiling raised, she’s due for another botox injection. Her last one had the needle shoved up too far up into her brain.
If Pelosi came home and found her house full almost to the ceiling with raw sewage would she raise the ceiling or stop the sewage?
Just raise the debt ceiling to $150 trillion and that should pay off all of those unfunded liabilities!/s
Satire aside, I wonder if there is ANY level of indebtedness beyond which she thinks the Federal government should not rise.
The sad thing is that while this is satire, those thoughts could be expressed by Stretch. But a necessary question is, If the “debt ceiling” can always be raised, why does it exist - what is its purpose?
