Xi'an Up Close 《西安零距离》, an investigative journalism programme which airs on Xi'an TV, has become a national laughing stock after airing a report on June 17 on a "mystery mushroom" which was discovered by villagers in a rural part of the city. Residents of the Liucunbu village on the outskirts of the capital of the Shaanxi province say they came across a strange fungi-like object as they hit bedrock while drilling a new well. The perplexed villagers decided to call up their local TV station for help, which sent intrepid reporter Ye Yunfeng to their sleepy little hamlet to get down to the bottom of things. One villager who was there during the fateful discovery of the unidentified object tells the reporter, "When we dug down to about 80m deep, we fished out this long, fleshy object. It's got a nose and an eye, but we have no idea what it is!" "Even our 80-year-old neighbour here says he has never seen anything like this before," he adds.

Please let no one write a play called ‘The Vajayjay Monologues’. Please!
Where will they send that poor reporter ?
Thanks for a good laugh. :)
If it left them befuddled, it sure makes you wonder how there ever got to be so many of them.
This is sure to be pulled LOL
Definitely not a ping.
Pinged an earlier posting, or I’d definitely ping it.
ROFL.
Lol, Living in a rural village in Texas, I wouldn’t have known what that thing was either. Texans residing in the large Town of Austin, probably would have known what it was.
Here is the original video report from the news broadcast about the mystery mushroom...
sorry - should have clicked the link. I read this earlier today on Yahoo News but the video was not attached to that report. I just assumed it was not attached to this one.
Hmmm, I thought Oriental ones went sideways.
There is a special term for Citizens of the Republic of Texas who reside in the large Town of Austin: "expats".
Has anyone asked how this got down into the ground where they were digging a well? Seems like a little deep to be burying your trash.
I just have this image of a little Chinese guy standing in the corner thinking “How freakin’ deep do I have to bury something so no one finds it....?”
