It used to be a lot simpler. As E.C. Bentley deftly summarized it in 1905:
"Geography is about maps, But Biography is about chaps."
But that was then, and now Biography is also about maps. For example, have you ever thought it would be way cooler to have been born in colonial Kenya?
Whoa, that sounds like crazy Birther talk; don't go there! But Breitbart News did, and it turns out that the earliest recorded example of Birtherism is from the president's own literary agent, way back in 1991, in the official bio of her exciting new author:
"Barack Obama, the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review, was born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii."
So the lunatic theory that Barack Obama doesn't meet the minimum eligibility requirements to be president of the United States was first advanced by Barack Obama's official representative. Where did she get that wacky idea from? "This was nothing more than a fact-checking error by me," says Obama's literary agent, Miriam Goderich, a "fact" that went so un-"checked" that it stayed up on her agency's website in the official biography of her by-then-famous client up until 2007:

Make sure all of these Dystel Agency images are copied and pasted ANYWHERE and EVERYWHERE. They are tiny image files that can be stuck anywhere.
Let the MSM continue their "American Pravda" blackout and coverup.
New Media is going to crush them in the end.
Larry would know.
I find it incredible, myself, that so many people without knowledge or skills survived to (chronological) adulthood. Natural selection FAIL.
So Mark Steyn says:
“I’m an Occam’s Razor man. The more obvious explanation of the variable first line in the eternally shifting sands of Obama’s biography is that, rather than pretending to have been born in Hawaii, he’s spent much of his life pretending to have been born in Kenya.”
************************************************************
I’m disappointed in Mark Steyn’s “reasoning”.
So the fact that Obama had posted to his website a purported “certified Hawaii birth certificate” that turned out (upon examination by expert document examiners) to be a not particularly well done forgery must have been done solely so folks might think he was born in Kenya. Yeah, that’s by far the most logical explanation of Obama’s operatives manufacturing and posting that forgery—so it MUST be true using Steyn’s Occam’s Razor methodology. A contrary explanation that perhaps they wanted to set up “support” for the supposition that Obama was born in Hawaii is ridiculous on its face and therefore not likely to be true using Occam’s Razor rule. To have just a little credence in this latter explanation must mean such a person is simply a crazed “birther”.
There are numerous other little similar indicators—the “most obvious” explanation of their existence certainly must be a life-long (well, maybe only until 2007 when the possibility of the Presidency occurred to him and/or his handlers) pretension by Obama to have been born in Kenya.
Yes, very logical Mr. Steyn. And very courageous of you to step forward with this latest “obvious” explanation. Yes folks, pay no attention to all this smoke seeping out in different places—there’s no fire; just perhaps someone trying to make you believe in an imaginary fire! Isn’t that just so obvious?
Another thing I am curious about, is whether or not Obama enrolled in college and took scholarship money as a “foreign student.” That would be fraud, but no big surprise in Obama’s case.
I also find it amusing that we know more about Romney 40-50 years ago than do about Obama, period. Great work, MSM and Secretaries of State of the Several States.
Like his "composite" girlfriend, he was lying then.
I am shocked that this only now surfaced. To me it tells more about the rich, often fictitious fantasy life Obama lived as a young adult than evidence of any conspiracy. And this is far more damning.
So, how do the obammy supporters explain this one away? Typo? BS.
I surmise that in 91, Obama had no such visions of being president so he could be honest about being born in Kenya. But later, he had to lie. Seems his sanitation crew missed this little gem.
But who is going to confront him and have him explain it?
That he indeed did claim to be born in Africa and used that premise to fraudulently get ahead.
Listening to Hannity using the tape of his book, in his own words, to VET Obama.
Hannity using his own words, Brietbart using documentation of his faux ID....
Freepers doing their part to support them both and spread the word.
Got dad the “AMATEUR” book yesterday. He stayed up all night reading it and started it for the second time this evening......I'll get a turn soon.
Simple spelling error - Kenya is so very close to Hawaii - heck, they even almost sound the same. And it’s not like someone would notice the fine print on a man’s nationality. It’s an honest mistake by the lit. agent. Can’t we move on?
Erosion journalism - a steady trickle eventually wears away all obstacles.
Well, according to Obama, Hawaii is in Asia... so I could see how he could be confused.

Got them. Thanks.

Part of the problem is that being born in Kenya further removes Obama from being an “African-American” ... he wasn’t born to African-Americans and didn’t grow up in an African-American household. Being born in Kenya makes him African, but not American, so his only “Journeys” are in black.
Obama would have run for Senate in 2004 and been seated in 2005. The website wasn’t changed until 2007, two months after announcing his bid for Senate. He also held an Illinois senate seat from 1997 until 2004. Funny how that birth in Kenya wasn’t a problem with his political career until he decided to run for president.
