Obama’s announcement of support for Gay “marriage” shows panic leads to mistakes

Panic leads to mistakes.

Barack Obama’s announcement of support for Gay “marriage” was not the result of a “heartfelt” search for “what is right for America.”

It was the result of full blown panic and a search for what is best for Barack Obama that will be devastating in November.

The huge 61/39 landslide loss Gay “marriage” took in North Carolina apparently set off a panic in Obama’s camp that “demanded” action.

This brought about Obama’s tense “declaration” of support for Gay “marriage” something that directly contradicts what he said about the issue in 2008.

More than this, it has made raising enthusiasm to vote among African Americans harder by a wide margin. For Obama the low energy level among his natural base was troublesome until 3 PM Wednesday.

Three minutes later that “troublesome” problem exploded into a raging fire that will require time and energy to put out – time and energy he must spend elsewhere if he is to win.

Working to pump up Black enthusiasm is not what Obama thought he would have to be doing with less than six months to Election Day.

With African American enthusiasm to vote already at 48% (down 30 points since 2008) this was a lethal mistake for Obama.

A 2010 Pew poll found overall Gay “marriage” approval lagged disapproval by just 6 pints (42/48), but among Blacks it was a lopsided 28/62 against the Gay position.

Those who would fool themselves into believing the African American position is an outlier and not reflective of the real national sentiment on Gay “marriage” do so at their own peril.

Notwithstanding the “happy face” news we are incessantly feed from a media eager lie, Gay “marriage” has lost 32 of 32 statewide votes on the issue……

Mr. Obama’s record in high office looks like a game of Twister.

You know, I don’t know if this chap really knows who he is.

Accordingly, if you don’t know who you are, you do some fairly stupid and rash things.

Tsk,tsk, Mr. President.

The problem is that the man has no core.

This allowed him to win in 2008 - he ran as a uniting republican with a (D) next to his name.

Now he is a scrambling candidate that will do anything to gain traction away from his record. We Americans have lived through 3 years of pain. Even Reagan only took 2 years to turn around Carter’s damage.

Uhm...didn't Obama declare support for gay marriage BEFORE the landslide victory against gay marriage?

The problem with the media constantly pounding the drum is that the hearer begins to believe his own propaganda. Happens quite a lot, actually, which is why the Beltway/NY media axis has been called an echo chamber.

OTOH, this only hurts 0bama if Romney takes a contrary position. If not, he skates. And that may be behind this move at this particular time.

looks like we're all getting "screwed"; that's O'Bozo's real position.

Someone texted to a Boston talkradio show that this means Obama will lose. The swing states, South etc will opt for
Romney (either by voting for him, staying home, etc.)

In NC blacks voted 2-1 to dump gay marriage.

Let’s do the math.

Does anyone seriously believe that those who favor gay marriage weren’t already planning on pulling the lever for Obama?

Among the young, definitely the targeted audience of this announcement, I’m pretty sure the pivotal issue for then will be economic. I look for this particular cohort to (statistically, in comparison to 2008) stay home in 2012. And this announcement by Obama doesn’t change my prediction much at all.

Blacks and Hispanics are nearly monolithic in their opposition to gay marriage. A large number of Hispanic Catholics, who may have voted for Obama, will now be unwilling to ditch their religious beliefs and vote for this guy. I know, I was married to one.

Then there are evangelicals, devout Catholics in general, and the moderately religious, for whom Obama’s gay marriage flop may be a trigger to action, so there should be a loss of votes here too.

In sum, I see this announcement as detrimental to Obama’s reelection.

Obama just lost the opportunity to use the flip-flop argument against Romney.

Normally after a vote like the one in North Carolina, homosexuals--with assistance from the MSM--would be calling for a nationwide boycott of North Carolina.

Will be interesting to see how that plays out.

No...they have the timeline correct. Election Tuesday, foot shot off by himself Wednesday.

Democratic National Convention is in Charlotte NC on 9/3. I’d give anything for the popcorn concession outside the venue because there’s a protest planned, you betcha.

(The NFL season opener is being moved to another day, BTW.)

He was cornered. A large chunk of his campaign money is coming from the gay lobby, and they were threatening to walk. He’s more likely to lose now than before, but without that money and the support (from Hollywood and media propaganda, not to mention “ground troops” for GOTV) he’d have no chance at all.

Obama will not lose many votes from Blacks over his support of gay marriage. Look what happened in California. People are not consistent in the way they vote. Otherwise no pro-abortion or pro-gay-marriage would never be elected. Yet, in reality, they are elected.

IMO the ‘targeted audience’ wasn’t the young, but MAJOR DONORS - Hollywood elite, progressives, gay activists and others - who had threatened not to write those big checks if he didn’t come out for gay marriage. Civil unions wasn’t enough for these folks. And if they can write checks upwards of $500K, well, what’s a lil change in position, especially with Malia and Sasha behind it??
