Wyclef Jean Calls Out Zimmerman In Trayvon Tribute, "Watch Out For Neighborhood Watcher"

The Fugees' Wyclef Jean has become the latest mainstream artist to speak out on the tragic fatal shooting of 17 year-old Trayvon Martin by putting out a new tribute record titled "Justice (If You're 17)."

On the record, Jean also places emphasis on incarcerated shooter George Zimmerman.

The Trayvon Martin case has gavilinzed the hip-hop community and has spawned several tribute songs in memory of the late teen. Following in the footsteps of Plies, rapper Wyclef Jean released his tribute song 'Justice (If You're 17),' in honor of Martin who was shot and killed by neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman on Feb. 26. On the acoustic guitar-driven tune, Wyclef cautions young teens to be careful when walking alone on the streets. "If you're 17 with a hoodie on / Watch out for the neighborhood watcher," he warns. He then adds, "If you're 17 / You should learn the law / Fight with your mind / Stronger than arms / Make no mistake / There's one like you / On every block / And every country." But the focal point is Trayvon Martin, and the former Fugee doesn't forget about the slain 17-year-old teen. "He could have been the next president / He could have been the next Steve Jobs / He could have been the next astronaut / So, until we can get justice / We won't stop," he croons. (Pop Crush)

Last week, Florida rapper Plies released a music video for his "We Are Trayvon" Martin tribute.

Big Gates/Slip-N-Slide/Atlantic recording artist Plies has joined the numerous public figures who have paid tribute to 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, with a YouTube video titled "We Are Trayvon." The track, which was produced by Filthy Beatz, was released via the Miami-native's YouTube page earlier this month, and is now available at all digital retailers. What's more, 100% of the profits of single sales of "We Are Trayvon" will be donated to the Justice For Trayvon Martin Foundation. Plies hopes that the release of "We Are Trayvon" will contribute to the growth of the Justice For Trayvon Martin Foundation and other organizations that are dedicating their efforts to remove elements of judgment while uplifting young black men in the eyes of the general public, as well as assisting other families that are suffering from similar situations as the parents of Trayvon Martin. (Market Wire) G.O.O.D. Music's Big Sean recently offered his take on the teenager's publicized death.

"Man, I think it's completely bullsh*t that people can get away with stuff like that," Sean said when asked for his take on the Martin tragedy. "You know, he died and didn't do anything wrong, obviously, he was just walking home, [and killed] just 'cause he had a hoodie on. It's just completel bullsh*t. I think it's completely racist -- just racist in the sense of being stereotypical, judgemental, completely stupid and sh*t needs to stop man, for real." (Global Grind)

Last week, George Zimmerman pleaded not guilty to the manslaughter charge.

A handcuffed George Zimmerman, charged with killing unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin, appeared in court for the first time on Thursday and his lawyer said a not guilty plea was entered on his "frightened" client's behalf. The neighborhood watch volunteer's lawyer, Mark O'Mara, also said he wanted Zimmerman to be released on bond, but not until he could secure a safe place for him to stay while he faces murder charges in the February 26 killing of 17-year-old Martin in a quiet gated community in the central Florida town of Sanford. Well, now we’ve heard from the singer with the double digit IQ.

I guess there’s nothing else to say.

(We let people like this ~VOTE~?!?)

“...galvinized the hip hop community...’

The community with the vulgar, bigoted, and misogynistic low talented (ahem) artists is upset? Are they also speaking out on the black on black crime too? What about the black on white crime, is that an issue for the hip hoppers too???

He didn’t do anything wrong?????

He went out of his way to portray himself as a criminal, then attacked the person enforcing local security with intent to kill.

I long ago ceased to be amazed at the utter BS these minorities choose to believe. I have spoken with some Amish who think Bush engineered Katrina’s destruction of NOLA, for the purpose of cheating the citizens of the 9th ward of their “property.”

I was in Katrina here in Biloxi, where the storm actually hit. Most residents of the 9th Ward were RENTERS, they didn’t own property!!

I guess this guy didn’t get the message. When no one including the NAAPC nor Jackson or others would help the severe beating of a black homeless man, Zimmerman put up posters and wrote all of these people finally to have something done. He has also helped mentor black children.

&&&&
gavilinzed? Okay, I guess they just make up words, too, to go along with the lies.
