The Miami-Dade Fire-Rescue Department is investigating a Facebook post by one of its captains that seems to blame the shooting death of Trayvon Martin on the "shi*tbag parents" of "our urban youth," and the "ghetto hoodie look" of young black men like Martin.
The entry was posted on the personal Facebook page of Miami-Dade fire captain Brian Beckmann. The Facebook page bears the same profile picture as the entry, which appears to have been deleted, but which was captured in a screengrab sent to theGrio.
The page's profile entry lists Metro-Dade Firefighters Local 1403.
The entry appears to have been created on Wednesday, the night State Attorney Angela Corey announced she would file second degree murder charges against George Zimmerman in Martin's shooting death.
"Listening to Prosecutor Corey blow herself and her staff for five minutes before pre-passing judgment on George Zimmerman," it read.
"The state seeks reelection again, truth aside. I and my coworkers could rewrite the book on whether our urban youths are victims of racist profiling or products of their failed, sh*tbag, ignorant, pathetic, welfare dependent excuses for parents, but like Mrs. Corey, we speak only the truth. They're just misunderstood little church going angels and the ghetto hoodie look doesn't have anything to do with why people wonder if they're about to get jacked by a thug."
Beckmann responded to questions about the page in a Facebook message, saying "I am a private citizen and have the same right to freely express an opinion on any subject that anyone else does. I choose not to embellish or alter the facts as your employer chose to do."
He offered to contact theGrio when he was "off duty" for further comment.
The source who provided theGrio with the Facebook entry expressed concern that the comments reflected "the thoughts of someone who responds to the homes of the very people" being denigrated in the post.
A Miami-Dade Fire Department spokesman issued the following statement:
Captain Brian Beckmann has been with Miami-Dade county since 1997. The post on his personal Facebook page is being investigated by Miami-Dade fire rescue. The department's only official Facebook page is: www.facebook.com/MiamiDadeFireRescue.

One thing's for sure, this kid and his parents will get a complete colonoscopy in court. We will know exactly what kind of parents they were. I hope they don't have any skeletons in their closet they want to hide.

I’m sure that happens all the time, both ways. I don’t know why people are shocked. They should be thankful people still do their jobs.
They are the typical direct product of democratic social engineering. Teenage Kid lives with sister and boyfriend or someone other than parents or parent,father is no where to be found, mother is divorced remarried or not married at all with another set of kids with boyfriend or boyfriends. This is all viewed by the rats as normal, encouraged and supported by them with our tax dollars. Yet when anyone especially one not of the same ethnic background says anything it is viewed as racist, another defensive tactic taught by thier holders.
Mom thought she found a gold mine.
What I think is odd is the kid just goes to the 7-11 to get some tea and skittles, doesn't come back and the father doesn't even go looking for him. I can't believe the father or his girlfriend didn't hear or see police sirens that night. I didn't think the kid was that far from the girlfriend's house.
It was reported that Trayvon had unexplained jewelry in his possession and what was considered B&E tools on a previous occasion. That might explain why Zimmerman reported him loitering around looking suspicious. He could have been casing out some houses since there had been break ins in the neighborhood.
Too many unanswered questions.
I would like to know what his parents do for a living but I'm sure we will find out all about them.
It also mentioned that when his father did call the police - at least a day later - he called to see if his son had been arrested, not to report him missing.
So quite possibly daddy knew or suspected more than he wants to talk about now.
So my guess is that someone did call daddy...(the girlfriend??)
Certainly daddy knew about the kid and the school stuff and a lot more....after all, the sweet little kid was on a 10 day suspension...
And it wouldn't surprise me if "girlfriend(s)" owned some interesting jewelry.
Looked like the incident was only a couple hundred feet from the girlfriend's house.
Daddy told conflicting stories at the beginning.
We'll know if he really called the kid and when....soon I hope....The cops would have had the phone by then and likely monitoring....unless they're stupid.
So here's a 17 year old kid...and they couldn't find a parent that night by looking at his phone list??
Excellent point...I’m expecting this announcement to aid in covering up the facts, “Trial to be closed to the media in order to preserve integrity of the process”.
That will preserve any inconvenient “facts” that might come out making the deceased look like anything but an angel.
Walks to 7-11 in the cold and rain. Never returns and no alarm bells go off for the father. He goes to bed.
The jewelry and burglary tools plus an empty bad with marijuana residue I believe was found at school, thus he was suspended. Course the mom believed he was suspended for tardiness. So Trayvon lied to her or she’s not being truthful. She didn’t bother calling the school? As a parent, wouldn’t you want to speak w/an school admin. to get the scoop?
Why did the father let this kid run around when he should have been confined/punished for suspension? No, Dad was out on the town and wasn’t even concerned his son was missing. Says he ASSUMED his son was w/a cousin but said cousin didn’t answer his phone. Why didn’t Dad get in his car and go the cousin’s house?
o/t It’s been reported that both parents have quit their jobs. Must be nice to have that luxury. Did they have high paying jobs with big savings accounts to be able to up and quit?
