In a new interview, former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich says he expects to finish in third place in the GOP delegate count and that there's a chance someone other than the four declared candidates could emerge from the party's August convention as the nominee. Neither of those statements is really news; various pundits have been saying the same for weeks. But what is newsworthy is that Mr. Gingrich has said them.
While Mr. Gingrich is not completely abandoning his own aspirations to secure the nomination, he seems to be switching his main focus from running against President Barack Obama in the general election to preventing presumptive nominee Mitt Romney from doing so.
Saying that Mr. Romney may not be able to "grind his way" to the nomination despite a massive advantage in fundraising, Speaker Gingrich discussed the possibility of a brokered convention. "I'm not so sure you wouldn't get a series of brand new players," he said.

Sarah Palin said a while back that this would be an unconventional election....a brokered convention would certainly fit that description.
More like a broken convention

I wish It were Sarah Palin.
Sarah run why don’t you?

PLEEEEEASE BE RIGHT! I still think that Sarah could energize the core, the right, and the middle. I think at a brokered convention she is the best choice.
She always does that. That said, I do find her articles of interest.
Newt knows Romney would not be best to take the lead at such a time as this. I heard Michelle Malkin on Fox this morning on Fox and Friends. They asked her if it is time for Newt and Santorum to get out of the race and support Romney. Malkin said no. Not until one of them gets all the needed delegates. She pointed out that Ron Paul is not getting out. I have been watching for Fox to post the video of her saying this but it is taking them a while to post the interview. I hope they are not trying to edit out that part but it sure is taking them a long time to post the interview.
There won’t be a brokered convention. Romney has to only get 581 delegates. He will win over 470 just in winner take all states left that favor him. I only used bound delegates in those states to get to the 470.
Put that with shares of the delegates from proportional states left and he will probably get the nomination.
Santorum needs over 800 and Newt needs over a 1000.
I guess it never hurts for all of them to try as long as they have the bucks.
It’s looking like a second ballot. That should be a spectacle to see.
Someone needs to ask Newt who is going to ‘emerge’? Who is going to come save the republican party before it makes the biggest embarrassment of itself than it has in ages?
Don’t tell me this is going to be another ‘game change’ moment (barf).
yeah, well we need to stop him in the biggest of those ‘winner take all’ states
One loss is all it will take to send it to a brokered convention
which is the best thihng we can hope for at this point
—Sarah run why dont you?—
I think she’s smarter than that. Only a fool would aspire to be president right now. I’m being quite sincere.
At 5:09 in this video from Fox and Friends this morning, Michelle Malkin says nobody should drop out and support Romney at this point. A convention is coming up.

The Palmetto Scoop reported: "One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was
the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"Im told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palins people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romneys former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw
that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.
"These staffers are now out trying to finish her off .hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."

“at a brokered convention she (Sarah) is the best choice.”
That’s true. She’d be the best choice. However, with the RINO establishment calling the shots at a brokered convention, there’s ZERO percent chance she’d win. Her name wouldn’t even be on the long list. A brokered convention will give us Romney, Jeb, or Christie.
You are very considerate.
