Romney loses temper at campaign stop in Chicago when questioned about role in same-sex "marriage"

On Tuesday, March 6 , Sandy Rios, talk-show host of WYLL in Chicago (AM 1160) attended a meeting with Mitt Romney, attended by about a dozen people. The meeting was very cordial and calm until she asked her question to Gov. Romney.

Sandy asked a question about Romney's actions after the same-sex "marriage" ruling by the Mass. Supreme Judicial Court (which were reported in an Associated Press article and are well documented). She asked why Romney had the marriage certificates printed up with "Partner A and Partner B" instead of "husband and wife", even though there was no mandate (from the Legislature or even the courts) for him to take that action.

Romney got angry and tried to deny it.

Hear the audio broadcast from WYLL radio in Chicago, March 9, as Sandy Rios explains what happened.

Read the Associated Press report from April 25, 2004, which describes what the Romney Administration did.

As Sandy Rios recounted the incident to MassResistance:

Simply put, the exchange went like this:

“Governor Romney, you just mentioned the detrimental effects of children being raised by same-sex partners…no one at this table knows better than you or the people of Massachusetts the effects of legalizing homosexual marriage on children. You are familiar, sir, with the issue of David Parker, whose appeal was defeated just last week. The courts declared that parents have no right to have any say in the content of public school curriculum or to opt their children out of its teaching. Consequently, children as young as kindergarten are being exposed to graphic homosexual information and lifestyles.

"Many people who oppose this in Massachusetts thought you were their champion. They were extremely disappointed when you ordered city officials to begin performing same-sex ceremonies and that marriage certificates be reworded to state “partners” rather than “husband” and “wife” before it was ever passed into by law as mandated to the legislative branch, not the executive, by the Supreme Judicial Court. In all due respect, sir, why did you do that?”

At that point Romney lost his temper. He said it wasn’t true and in so many words that I was lying. He asked if I was an attorney and I said “no, sir, I am not.” “I am a graduate of Harvard Law School.” He stated. One of the men in the room remarked “maybe that’s the problem.” He continued coming after me…would not stop when interrupted by an aid. His last words were “what candidate is a champion of marriage more than I?”

The meeting prior to that had been extremely cordial…the questions about matters of taxation and business and healthcare. He was completely surprised by my challenge and his response was troubling to many of us.

Another sad chapter in this sad story of Gov. Romney trying to run away from his past actions..

Romney must be stopped!

The only way that's gonna happen now is if Gringrich or Santorum back out and put their support behind the other. Until then, the conservative vote will continue to be split.

Something has corrupted his thinking. There is something about him I don’t trust when his background don’t match up with his decisions.

It's very simple. All his decisions are based on how they move him and his career goals forward. He may talk about being all business/private sector, but the fact is, he is self-serving and a politician. Romney is all about Mitt.

Freepers, we/you have a problem. March 6 fell on a Tuesday in 2004, and again this year. In its original form, the meeting was reported as having been held on 3/6/2004. I read the short form here, pulled it up to see the comments, and noted “2004” being missing in the first two places it would have been noticed.

I despise Mitt Romney almost as much as I do Barack Hussein (and the rest of the slime on the bottom of the barrel), but I hope Free Republic isn’t allowing misleading editing?

Obviously, Mitt is not so confident with his “lead”. People sure of themselves and their positions do not lash out like this.

In addition to the political campaign, we are seeing a gigantic PR campaign to make us think Mitt is legitimate. Might be nothing more than a house of cards that could fold any minute.

Mitt rolled over like a puppy in the face of judicial tyranny.

That's because he agreed with the tyrants. When confronted with the truth on this issue, he freaks out like Dracula when shown a cross.

What I come back is the question: can Romney be any weaker than McCain was in 2008 — in other words, are there people who voted for McCain in 2008 who see something in Obama’s job performance that merits a change of vote?

I voted for McCain in 2008 under duress. I will not vote for Romney under any circumstances.

Note: After watching the tape released by the Breitbart folks on Hannity the other night, it does appear that Harvard Law School is virtually a Marxist institution.

So, let’s get this straight: The GOP-e want us to trade one Harvard Law School grad for another!

Hmmm. I for one am not buying.

Romney is mentally ill because he thinks sodomy is “good” and that it is a Natural Right from God (and not a bizarre made-up “right” from a sick twisted mind of a sexual pervert (Frank) who was probably molested as a young child).

Anyone who is for the bizarre concept of “Civil Unions” or “Homosexual Marriage” is for throwing the Constitution OUT! The idea that the General Welfare and Just Law is not connected to the promotion of Virtue and the laws of nature is an outright Marxist.

Marxism wants a Brave New World where the word “mother” and “father” are obsolete and make people puke. Notice how school text books removed the words “wife” and “husband” for decades and replaced it with “partner” to be “inclusive” and normalize all sorts of “families” for children, warping reality of human beings where children are denied their natural biological parents.

(Loyalty and total control of kids belong to the state once they destroy the meaning of biology like in Brave New World—their utopia).

First of all, what does being a lawyer have anything to do with it?

Second, the republicans are doing every thing they can to get obama re-elected just like they did to get him elected the first time.

“There’s just no way in hell I’m going to vote for this bastard. I’ve voted GOP every single election of my life, never wavering a single time. Even when the candidates have been crummy (which has, exasperatingly, been far too often the case). But this is just a bridge too far, dammit. Romneycare/gay-crap... forget it.”
**********************************************************
Well, your 100% GOP voting record is better than mine. There was one time where I did not vote for the Republican. That was in 1972 when Nixon was essentially a “shoo-in”. I voted (absentee from Pleiku, Vietnam) for Mary Kay Letourneau’s dad (John Schmitz) as a protest vote.

But this 2012 election is DIFFERENT. Obama is running and it is VITAL FOR OUR NATION that he be defeated—even if only by a RINO if that’s who we end up nominating. EVERY VOTE will count.

Until we have a nominee it’s important that we continue to support campaigns for a Romney alternative. If it ends up that Romney is going to be the nominee, it will be urgent that we insist (to ALL delegates) that one of the prices for that will be that a TRUE conservative be on the ticket. And, for me, a true conservative would be Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich or Santorum (in descending order of quality in my opinion).

We also need to support true conservatives in their quests to be elected to various Senate and House candidates. That will important in any case and even more important if Romney is the candidate. We would want to dilute the influence that people such as the self-important McCain and the weak-sister Lindsay Graham would be able to have on Romney.

Before I knew much about him, Romney seemed okay.

Since the primary's been rolling along, the more I learned about him, the less I like the guy.

Now, after however many months it's been, I can't stand listening to him, don't trust him and want him defeated.

obama makes me want to vote for a Republican and Romney makes me want to vote for anybody but Romney.
