For who does God, our Creator, want us to vote? Of course, the answer is for whomever He tells us to vote. Ask in prayer and vote for who God tells you to vote. But what if He doesn't name names? Here are some scriptures that give direction on voting biblically: Exodus 18:21 says: "Choose able men from all the people--God-fearing men of truth who hate unjust gain and corruption--and place them over thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens, to be their rulers." So if it's important to have honest leaders over groups of 1000, then how much more important is it to have a moral President over more than 300 million people?
The bible makes it clear that we are to oppose murder- so it is a no-brainer to vote against anyone who supports abortion since that act is clearly the murder of innocent babies in the womb. The bible also makes it quite clear that while our Heavenly Father loves sinners, he hates sin, and one of the sins he hates most is homosexuality, as explicitly stated from Genesis to Revelation. So we certainly don't want to oppose The Almighty on one of these bedrock issues of faith.
What's more Amos chapter 5 verses 14-15 gives an additional self preserving reason to cast a moral vote: "Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live." So as we see, the stakes are high. That's the easy part, who NOT to vote for, but what if multiple candidates profess moral positions? And what if after much heartfelt prayer and bible reading you still don't know with certainty for who our Creator is telling us to vote. Are there any formulas or rules of thumb?
You simply vote for the one who espouses more principled positions, and factor in other considerations such as family life, management or other leadership experience and perhaps community involvement. So unless you hear an audible voice to the contrary in prayer, don't vote for a Presidential candidate who has never before held elected office for it is unlikely that he or she is the best choice for the top job.
The bible has formulas for picking deacons and elders and other church leaders and that formula also should be considered to some degree in picking a political candidate. What are his or her children like? Are they spiritually mature? What is their reputation in the community? And importantly, the bible warns not to lay hands quickly on a person, meaning, don't raise up an inexperienced person into leadership quickly. Let them prove themselves first. Ideally, Vote for someone who espouses the Judeo-Christian principles upon which our nation was founded. And if two candidates are similar in morals and experience, try to discern which has the greater gift of leadership and administration. But beware, if a candidate is a Satanist or a cultist, it doesn't matter how good his leadership skills may be. Don't vote for him. Once such charismatic leader that comes to mind was overwhelmingly voted into office: Adolf Hitler.
And remember that our vote can impact what kind of leader we have in office. Here's some parting wisdom from Proverbs 29:2: When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked rule, the people groan, sigh and mourn. With stakes that high it is vitally important to cast a correct vote. But what you make the wrong choice or if your right choice is outvoted? Take comfort in this scripture from Proverbs 21, verse 1: "The king's heart is in the hand of Yahweh, like streams of water; He turns them any way he chooses."
For Him and Him alone.
4 Then all the elders of Israel gathered together and came to Samuel at Ramah 5 and said to him, Behold, you are old and your sons do not walk in your ways. Now appoint for us a king to judge us like all the nations. 6 But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed to the Lord. 7 And the Lord said to Samuel, Obey the voice of the people in all that they say to you, for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected me from being king over them. 8 According to all the deeds that they have done, from the day I brought them up out of Egypt even to this day, forsaking me and serving other gods, so they are also doing to you. 9 Now then, obey their voice; only you shall solemnly warn them and show them the ways of the king who shall reign over them.
Samuel's Warning Against Kings
10 So Samuel told all the words of the Lord to the people who were asking for a king from him. 11 He said, These will be the ways of the king who will reign over you: he will take your sons and appoint them to his chariots and to be his horsemen and to run before his chariots. 12 And he will appoint for himself commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties, and some to plow his ground and to reap his harvest, and to make his implements of war and the equipment of his chariots. 13 He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers. 14 He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive orchards and give them to his servants. 15 He will take the tenth of your grain and of your vineyards and give it to his officers and to his servants. 16 He will take your male servants and female servants and the best of your young men[a] and your donkeys, and put them to his work. 17 He will take the tenth of your flocks, and you shall be his slaves. 18 And in that day you will cry out because of your king, whom you have chosen for yourselves, but the Lord will not answer you in that day.
Well, I highly doubt he wants us to vote for the guy who thinks he is in training to take His place.
Other than that, I’m not sure God cares too much about U.S. politics.
[ For Whom Does God Want Us To Vote? ]
Good question.....
I would say the meanest son of bitch we can get to salt down the federal givernment in the NEW SODOM!....
That is I think everyone would agree.. IS NEWT GINGRICH..
Serioulsy?...For the person that we actually write down, obviously.
God wants some to vote for Obama, some for Newt, some for Paul, some for Mitt, some for Rick, some not vote at all.
Sound judgment is one of the characteristics of prudence, which is a virtue. The foolish lack sound judgment.
PROVERBS 24
The devising of folly is sin,
And the scoffer is an abomination to men.
If you are slack in the day of distress,
Your strength is limited
Politics is a civic duty. Even WEBSTERS knows that neglect of duty is a sin:
“Sin comprehends not action only, but neglect of known duty”
Unfortunately, it would seem that Satan pretty much has a lock on the world these days...
God’s candidate, Heweman Cain, was forced out of the race on December 3, 2011.
Please forgive the typo......Herman Cain. thank you.
