In my view, Rich Santorum is weak, a Charlie Brown type character for whom Obama (Lucie) will simply yank the ball away as we head towards massive defeat
Not thanks- if Noot can't come back I'd prefer and open convention, Palin vs. Jeb Bush or some such thing.
Mittens would lose in November due to insufficient contrast and a disgusted GOP base. I agree he's an improvement over Obama, and not a maniacal racist/marxist- BUT ...deeply resent having Romney stuffed down my throat by the GOP old guard. At this point is merely slowing the growth rate of the state sector good enough? Methinks not.
Mark me down for 'Cuda: We used to fear her polling negatives, and honestly I was glad she didn't run. But now, after how all the negative campaigning has played out... Palin looks more than worth a chance since everybody else on the GOP side has suffered similar damage from flailing negative attacks.
All I know for sure is Rich Santorum is NOT going to cut it, my friends... talk about 'settling' for the mediocre, good grief.
Newt suggested that Santorum leave the race because his numbers weren’t very good and by staying in he splits the conservative vote. He should take his own advice now.
You’re very welcome- Tell her what I said- she will appreciate it!
Polls now are all but meaningless, what till the Obammunist propaganda machine starts defining “Rev Rick”
Why do you think the left is so quiet re. Santorum? Do you think they like his platform?
If nominated, the deluge unleashed upon Santorum will be far beyond even what Palin has faced.
And I’m entitled to my opinion, Lazlo- sorry, Santorum strikes me as a weak person with zero leadership experience and lousy resume.
I don’t have to be impressed with anyone just because the sheeple have flocked
Lazlo in PA is right on point. Stop this troll nonsense. Is that all you anti-Santorum folks have to offer.
We are trying to stop Romney at any cost. This is the central mission at hand. If you think why a Gingrich withdrawal in MI will not assist this goal argue your case. Who knows you folks may have a point. But simply engaging in visceral stuff gets us nowhere.
Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin have all but endorsed Santorum as the last remaining viable candidate to beat Obama, and even conservative publications like The Washington Times, The American Spectator, Townhall, and National Review have come around to saying the same thing. The question for all of us is not Gingrichs politics, although that does matter, but at this stage of the game its a question of electability.
To paraphrase Donald Rumsfeld, we got to war with what we have. And if Santorum is within reach of beating Romney in his home state, and making this a 2-person race, it befits Gingrich to strategically withdraw in MI. I believe many of us who are behind Santorum would have said the same thing if the numbers were reversed in Gingrichs favor. This is not and never has been about bashing Gingrich or anyone else or creating fan clubs.
It comes to down to the best options we have to defeat Romney. Let’s face some hard facts. Gingrichs negatives are through the cellar, hes opening up a +20 point difference with female voters, he lost to Romney in every key demographic in FL, and while Santorum trails Obama by 8 points in the recent USA-Gallup, Gingrich is behind by as much as 15 points and more. More alarming, Santorum is even nipping at the heels of Gingrichs GA and has just opened up a Grand Canyon lead in 155 delegate-rich Texas.
Or do we have Machiavellian politics at play here? Could it be that Gingrich doesnt want to withdraw from the MI primary is because should Santorum win, his momentum from this seismic event will sweep Gingrich as well in the Super- Tuesday tsunami?
When you join a resistance, you work with allies to defeat a common enemy of conservatism. Either we close ranks and get behind Santorum as Levin advocates or we splinter and fail.
Should any third party individual come in at a fantasy brokered convention, it would irreparably harm the conservative movement and assure an easy re-election for Obama.
I agree with most every word you say here Dusty, but I’m not jumping on a ‘brokered convention bandwagon’
Rather, the character assassination of Newt Gingrich by the old guard GOP and Romney campaign was the last straw for me... I’m not voting for him, I’m disgusted... and to me Santorum is a guaranteed loser
It’s not a fad, from where I’m standing, brokered convention is the only hop I’ve got left
The GOP is already split. About 23% (or less) are for Romney, or can even tolerate him. About 77% are rabidly anti-Romney, and anti- whatever RINO they might put up to replace him.
This fight is long overdue. The nation will not survive another RINO.
She would have 9 weeks. Yes we can elect her...Palin/Demint
If only. My checkbook is ready.
I am but one vote, but think of myself as typical of many that watch from the sidelines.
In 2008, I could not believe the momentum a very weak RINO candidate (McCain) had generated within the GOP machine.
Most conservatives, along with typical Americans like myself, were left standing on the sidelines, watching the Party mechanisms on both sides, pick our candidates.
I was in DC for the 09/11/2010 March on DC.
And I strongly believe that millions have been keeping their powder dry.
We saw what a weak GOP candidate could do to us - Bring us what is potentially the most dangerous administration of this country's existence.
Folks - This is not over, and what many have come to recognize as an anti-Romney movement is actually just a Pro-American movement - One that will resist the establishment as picking the one to sit in the Oval Office.
I voted for Santorum in the Florida primary with some trepidation but I’d whole heartedly support a Palin run.
“If only. My checkbook is ready”
You and me both, Ada... and we’re not the only ones
I agree....she can not win...period
Running for president and losing would mean a huge blow to the sales of books, TV shows, speaking engagements, etc.
Running for president and winning means 24/7/365 with the world's most stressful job and endless media scrutiny.
Palin clearly gets this. Many of her fans? Not so much.
No, we are not trying to stop Romney “at any cost.”
We have to stop his essential twin Santorum too, and saving the country is the real goal that you ricky sycophants can’t seem to embrace.
The goal is not to provide a short bus to the GOP nomination for the short bus ex senator.
So take your own advice, and stop the low brow trolling.
You can give Newt credit for anything you wish, but I’ll stick with the reality. Clinton did it in ‘94, just as Bush did it in 2006.
It would appear you are the one riding the short bus considering that no one else is endeavored in this goal except for the Milt campaign, the establishment Rove types and a smattering of Newt supporters in meltdown because his campaign is in desperately sad shape.
You keep missing something in your blind belief that Newt is electable against all the odds staring in your face. They have a name for it- ostriches who bury their heads in the sand. Newt is going down in flames and should Romney pull it off in MI, you will see an avalanche of criticism from conservative circles how Newt’s ego gave us Romney. Today’s Gallup shows Santorum within reach of Obama. Newt is an also-ran who can be seen in the rear mirror. So before you are left behind in the dust, wake up from your stupor and see reality staring in your face. If the only thing you and your ilk have got is to call people who disagree with your point of view as “trolls” it goes to show how blinkered you are devoid of any real argument you can muster except as one with a cult-like affectation.
