In my view, Rich Santorum is weak, a Charlie Brown type character for whom Obama (Lucie) will simply yank the ball away as we head towards massive defeat
Not thanks- if Noot can't come back I'd prefer and open convention, Palin vs. Jeb Bush or some such thing.
Mittens would lose in November due to insufficient contrast and a disgusted GOP base. I agree he's an improvement over Obama, and not a maniacal racist/marxist- BUT ...deeply resent having Romney stuffed down my throat by the GOP old guard. At this point is merely slowing the growth rate of the state sector good enough? Methinks not.
Mark me down for 'Cuda: We used to fear her polling negatives, and honestly I was glad she didn't run. But now, after how all the negative campaigning has played out... Palin looks more than worth a chance since everybody else on the GOP side has suffered similar damage from flailing negative attacks.
All I know for sure is Rich Santorum is NOT going to cut it, my friends... talk about 'settling' for the mediocre, good grief.
get lost troll.....
You’ve been here with terminal PDS from day one - no credibility here.
Wow, another PDS troll breaks wind - how surprising.
I agree, my statement was sort of “if Newt fizzles”. I do prefer Newt as President, but if that is not to be, Sarah/Newt is great, and maybe even more “electable”.
...and that is exactly what we need! Someone to energize the base, the tea party groups to get out the vote. Palin would do that as none other since Ronald Reagan. This current crop of candidates isn't going to inspire ANYONE!
I'm mystified by all the anti-Palin Freepers who don't "get it". Sarah Palin = GOP landslide. Others = soso victory that won't accomplish much in the badly needed reforms area. Just a GOP victory doesn't necessarily translate to an America saving victory.
I’ve met the real Lucy she’s very nice.
I hope three times this close together is enough for people to realize the GOP power structure is out to destroy mainstream conservatism period. First they destroyed Palin, then they destroyed Newt, and now the long knives are out for Rick. Just look at Drudge if you can stand it. His page is set up with a bunch of lying, misleading, trumped-up anti-Rick headlines and stories just like it was for Newt the day the ABC interview with Marianne Gingrich came out. You still barely get the sense Romney even exists from his page as it’s been all year.
And tonight on Greta one of those Washington reporter types repeated the new meme that the GOP will not let Rick Santorum win the nomination no matter what it takes, and will bring in a new candidate if Romney loses Michigan. They’re saying they’ll put him on the ballot in the 10 or so states still open and then apparently make him the winner at a brokered convention (e.g. Jeb, Daniels, Christie).
This all continues to be completely disgusting and disgraceful. This is a party that is telling us it’s not big enough for the likes of Palin, Newt or Santorum.
Wow another troll, Laz of Low, in pa.
I won’t get the ‘zot’ been a long time member. But conservatives should live in the real world and a brokered convention in modern American politics is impossible. And Sarah Palin is not going to run for President, too big a paycut.
>>...Santorum is connecting with voters in all the upcoming Primary states and is just a few points behind Obummer in today’s Gallup...<<
If turnout in the general is at an all time record low, perhaps he has a chance. But he strikes me as neither a fighter, nor a leader. He will be a goldfish in a bowl full of sharks throughout the general. The most memorable element of his campaign so far is his sweater-vests. Yep, he’s got the “sweater-vest” constituency sewed-up.
He’s a *really* nice guy and that may be his undoing — he comes off as someone who’s never had to get some blood on his knuckles and I bet the dems get the same impression. Can he stand up to what the libs are going to dish out to whoever survives the primary? So far, he doesn’t lend very much confidence in that regard.
>> “Didnt Newt basically invent Republican coattails in 1994 on a massive scale?” <<
.
No, really he didn’t. He just recognized the backlash to Clinton’s overreach and jumped on the bandwagon as it rolled by. Public distrust of his ‘contract’ almost derailed it all.
The GOP establishment has not laid a finger on Santorum, he is their fall-back guy.
You’re out of your mind. You obviously haven’t been to Drudge today. They are “Newting” Rick by harping on every little statement, blowing them out of proportion, taking them out of context, etc., the same exact thing they did to Newt. And you haven’t listened to the news this weekend at all. If Romney can’t win Michigan, they are planning to either destroy or pull the rug out from under Santorum one way or another. The elites simply will not accept a middle class-raised social conservative like Palin, Newt or Santorum.
UPDATE: Fox took the poll down but not before the massive voting result had Palin the clear winner-reported as;
Sarah Palin 41.54% (39,539 votes)
Chris Christie 23.34% (22,217 votes)
Paul Ryan 14.52% (13,821 votes)
Jeb Bush 11.89% (11,320 votes)
Mitch Daniels 8.7% (8,280 votes)
A poll asking who they’d support in a brokered convention setting.
LOL, what a load of revisionist history. There isn’t a single person out there, Democrat or Republican, no matter how much they hate Newt, who doesn’t give him credit for the 1994 takeover. It was already decided he was going to be the Speaker before the election happened. Everyone knew he was in charge of the whole thing. And the Contract with America was an extremely popular driving force behind it. Of course the Clinton backlash was part of it but there were millions of new voters. There was genuine excitement generated for the Republicans, it wasn’t simply an anti-Clinton vote.
LOL I had forgotten about Ron Paul. You have a point.
“Back in August...she told Hannity that Mark my words, this will be an unusual election cycle and then theres going to be a lot of coming and going She knew something was up.”
Great observation there
New York Daily News poll results; Only vote once
Would you vote for Sarah Palin if she decided to run?
Yes 53%
No 45%
Not sure 2%
Agree. My first reaction was that this thread is unworthy of a polite response. With a runaway lead in Texas, Santorum is now the hands-down consensus grass-roots candidate. Time for Gingrich to withdraw from MI and deliver Santorum a seismic victory over Romney. With blue-collar appeal, he is without doubt the most electable candidate and comes closest to trailing Obama by a mere 8 points and that on a shoe-string budget.
