If Newt Can't Recover, We Should Look to an Open Convention... and That Means PALIN

In my view, Rich Santorum is weak, a Charlie Brown type character for whom Obama (Lucie) will simply yank the ball away as we head towards massive defeat

Not thanks- if Noot can't come back I'd prefer and open convention, Palin vs. Jeb Bush or some such thing.

Mittens would lose in November due to insufficient contrast and a disgusted GOP base. I agree he's an improvement over Obama, and not a maniacal racist/marxist- BUT ...deeply resent having Romney stuffed down my throat by the GOP old guard. At this point is merely slowing the growth rate of the state sector good enough? Methinks not.

Mark me down for 'Cuda: We used to fear her polling negatives, and honestly I was glad she didn't run. But now, after how all the negative campaigning has played out... Palin looks more than worth a chance since everybody else on the GOP side has suffered similar damage from flailing negative attacks.

All I know for sure is Rich Santorum is NOT going to cut it, my friends... talk about 'settling' for the mediocre, good grief.

open convention
deadlocked convention
thank you for not calling it a brokered convention.

it somebody wants to jump in now, the KS and MO caucuses are coming up. There is no ballot deadline cuz at a caucus there ain’t no ballot.

Wonder about deadlines for CA TX NJ OR NC IN NY WI ... CT is still available but looks like a MITT state.

I could support any combination of Palin/ Gingrich.

I really wish I could understand the nature of the trouble newt has run into.

he wasn’t my first choice, and I do have problems with things he’s done in the past, but the man is cleary intelligent and articulate. This is a really tough primary to figure out ><.

Sarah would pulverize obama. It will/could be pure good versus pure bad. really simple.

I've always had an uneasy feeling about Sarah running for President. I like her, though.

Only asking: None of the candidates remaining would be good versus evil? or we'd have to just start from scratch? Yuck. ...and we could get stuck with anyone? Again, yuck.

So help me if "they" try to leave us with Jeb Bush, I'm not voting.

I agree about Santorum. Nice fella that doesn’t stand even a small chance of beating nobama. nobama and his thugs will treat him like a doormat, then pick him up, chew him up and spit him out.

BYW, the female character in the Charlie Brown comic strip is named Lucy, not Lucie.

I don’t think she planned it this way. I do think she’s tried to stop Romney from the get go but then so have most of us.

But if we can’t get it together, Sarah’s a patriot above all else. She’d run.

Newt Gingrich LOOKS OLD. That’s why he’s having trouble. His hair is white. He looks like he won’t last long in office.

I have thought for some time that she has outmanuevered the rest of the field, yet when she declined to run I thought it wise with such high polling negatives

Now that we’ve seen what they’ve done to Gingrich -and reality had done to Romney- ‘Cuda’s negatives are no longer enough to dismiss her outright, that’s for sure

I don't agree, though I really love what Palin brings to the table every time she speaks, I think she would be a turn-off (been there, done that type candidate) to most lazy-lax voters.

Picking the running mate will be primarily up to the nominee, and too often the pick is an absolute surprise - sometimes really a downer.

I think the GOP establishment is in it’s death throes, quite frankly

They bet it all on Mittens AND LOST

Now the hunter has become the hunted... and getting Palin to ‘accept the draft’ is forgone conclusion, my friend

In 1880, non contestant James A. Garfield emerged the Republican nominee from a deadlocked convention.

He was anti corruption, a patriot, great President, and restored the American people's trust in an honest Presidency. One of the best chief executives this nation has ever been blessed with.

Sarah is better looking.

I think Palin “already” is building up....from the CPAC speech to the blitz all over Fox and then to her new Sarah PAC video campaign like video points to her knowing well ahead that she going to be called upon

LOL. I am now absolutely convinced there really is a sucker born everyday. Any "build up" is just another of Palin's attention getting efforts to keep her name in the limelight and keep the fund raising rolling in for her PAC. Even in a brokered convention (and there won't be one), Palin is not going to be called on by a majority of delegates, candidates, attendees, etc. And if she were, she wouldn't run anyway. She's celebrity now, and all good celebrities understand the key to drawing crowds and remaining relevant is to not just stay in the news - but to find ways to turn news cycles themselves.

What on earth is it going to take for some of you people to finally get it? The woman said, no. It's not going to happen. Sarah Palin is not running for President in this election cycle at all. One thing is for sure though, she can get a ton of attention and rake in a lot of money via the die hard fanatics who just can't let go. One "fire in the belly" interview somewhere on Fox and many of ya'll are back at it thinking she is going to run and funding her PAC for her. I swear it's like battered spouse syndrome for some of you people. Palin could do this for the next 4 election cycles straight and you probably still wouldn't figure it out.

I wouldn’t be too quick to jump onto the brokered convention bandwagon. Th establishment Republicans are planning on offering up Jeb if Romney doesn’t seal the deal.

From where I sit, either one is a lose-lose for the GOP and zero wins round 2. I’m not too sure where Sarah really stands. She;s keeping everything too close to the vest and, IMO, while I like her and would love to see her as our candidate, I believe that she would split the party. Too many people DON’T like Sarah and will stay home in November.

Right now, the way things appear, the GOP and conservatives are heading for a giant cluster**** in the summer that will probably ensure another Obama term if we are unable to rally around a particular candidate.

So far, Romney and Paul are unlikely choices. Which leaves us Newt and Rick Santorum. I like Newt, but he tends to be a bit polarizing and could face an uphill battle in the fall - battling both conservatives and the Obama Propaganda Teams (AKA Truth Teams).

And, Santorum would probably fare worse. He still lacks strong name recognition and would be the target of withering attacks from Obama.

IMO, Obama will probably NOT do the bulk of his own battling, he would leave that to his gang of thugs and his propagandists. All in all, I think this campaign will be the dirtiest and most ruthless campaign we have ever seen. And, traditionally, conservatives are not up to dirty politics.
